They drop all over the place in the asuran lands..really not worth the time trying to farm them.

Ok I'll test that right now, but I think it's a load of warm dog dung to be honest. To be sure, you are saying that I have to go from Rata Sum to Riven Earth to Alcazia Tangle to Riven Earth to the raptor cave and open the chest?
Edit: a chest spawned on my second try. Got a req13 purple air wand. At least it was highly salvageable and I got 8 Steel Ingots. Busted myth.
Edit2: o, I retained my lockpick, gonna try again.
Edit3: again, crappy purple, this time a req11 Skull Spear with a terrible mod. At least I retained my lockpick again. I'll try again and see if the third time's a charm...

This will need some testing done. Any one up for some chest running? I'll try testing it tomarrow morning, since I can't do it today, and post some screens with text saying that I picked it up and didn't drop any item that comes from the chest.

Kycoo, read my previous post. I did 7 runs from Rata Sum through Riven Earth to Alcazia Tangle, zoned back into Riven Earth and went to the raptor cave. In 6 of the 7 runs, a chest spawned in the raptor cave. I opened them all with one lockpick before it finally broke. All I got were crappy purples.
Here, I took screens of the chat log:
P.S. to majikmajikmajik: at least one of those scythes did drop from the chest, because it has the "assigned to ..." text on it, which doesn't happen if you just drop it from your inventory. However, there is no sign of when the picture was taken or just how many tries it took to get one to drop.
Edit: I just bought another lockpick. Did 2 runs, chest spawned both times. Lockpick broke on second chest. Again, 2 purples.
Edit2: Did a couple more runs without a lockpick just to see if a chest would spawn. It did on both occasions. So now I'm thinking I just missed the chest on the first of my 11 runs. It seems a chest always, or at least almost always, spawns in the raptor cave if you enter Riven Earth from Alcazia Tangle. In any case, I don't see where the OP gets his figure of 1/3 of a chance to see a chest spawn.

i'll confirm that too, been farming the raptors since before the raptor farming fad began and that chest regularily dropped saurian scythes, one event weekend i had 4 q9 saurian scythes myself too, and that was only using the lockpicks which dropped for me.
Saying that, saurian scythes have dropped alot in price, pretty certain its because of this chest spawn too
BTW you cant expect one to drop one every time guys lol, its not like people farm bogroot because a frog scepter drops everytime, just a chance, and in this instance, a pretty high chance imo, considering its a locked chest and a whole random set of different things can drop from it.

I used to farm Saurian Scythes in Eye of the North's early days. They pop out of chests in Sparkfly Swamp frequently, although not in the actual swamp filled with frogs.
Any chests surrounded by dinosaurs in Asura territory spawns Saurians.

I think the raptor cave chest has a good drop rate of saurians... I've gotten 2 in a row before, but I rarely open it when one spawns in the cave.

Now have people go open it dozens of time through regular raptor farming and see if saurian scythes drop any differently. My guess is that a saurian scythe would have dropped from the chest whether you zoned out from town or not. Just that in that instance it was in the chest.
I really would doubt that just by going through a different zone it would manage to effect your chest results.

No one is arguing that you can get Saurian Scythes from the chest. I open the chest when it appears every time I raptor farm and have gotten 5 already.
The point everybody is trying to make is a) there is no "proof" that this forces a chest to always be there b) this isn't faster then any other convential chest farm in the Asuran lands would be, like from rata sum to the cave c) it doesn't "improve" the odds of a saurian scythe from dropping. Even if it did, they aren't worth that much anyway to specifically farm for them. d) anybody who wants to chest run already has faster routes So... what's the point of this "farm?" There is no reason to insult people Devilmen. The point is all those items you are showing off in the picture are... crud. A req 13 saurian scythe and a bunch of primative staves???? A half hour of raptor farming or vaetar farming will get you FAR more gold items and money. A half hour of witman's folly running will open more chests. There is no benefit to doing this.

Guys. Those runs are good, but when u open chest and pick loot, you should die, and it rezz near shrine for Alcazia, its much more faster with dying unless ur survivor

the chests in eotn as stated on wiki wont always spawn or in same place , ive done raptors where ive had a chest for 4 runs and no chests for 10 , sometimes ive found the chest outside the cave at other exit.A guildie who also does raptors had no chests for about 30 runs and he swore i was lucky untill he got 4 chests in a row and 2 had req9 scythes and other 2 had elite tomes.
In comparison the punchout quest 3/4 of my runs never have a single chest then i may get a run with 1 chest and then zero for ages. Ive had more scythes from asterious/myish and taameh than i have from raptors chest and ive done 3x more raptors than boss runs. Btw just because the screens showed 2-4 saurains doesnt mean much (please read on before commenting guys/girls ) as last weekend i was boss farming and when i did finish i had 6 green scythes - but was after maybe 30 rezone runs so the screenshot may represent an hrs farming rather than 1 or 2 runs.

I've never specifically chest run here but i do always open the chest while raptor farming if only for the chest and wisdom title. Way too many useless primitive staffs for me lol. Have had a couple of saurian scythes though, i don't care how much they're worth, ones gone on my perma sin the other on my IW Mes, they look pretty damned cool

I have been running this method every time I farm the raptors since I saw the post (which is only part time during event drop weekends). What is does is hugely increase the chance of a chest being in or near the cave. So far I have had 3 or 4 r9's and a couple of higher req's out of a lot of chests. You can still sell the scythes for around 15k but I'm not sure its a money spinning method due to the time taken. However it does at least help with chest opening title.
