October XTH Points Distribution Errors
Regina Buenaobra
The web developer in charge of the Xunlai Tournament House prediction point distribution has notified us of a problem similar to the one that occurred during the September distribution (August points). Players were not awarded the correct number of September points in the October build.
The number of people who do not have the correct number of points is smaller than the last time this happened, however as with the previous error, we do have a record of the accounts who are due their points, as well as the number of points that are owed to those accounts.
Our developer anticipates that he will be able to add all players' missing points to their Xunlai Tournament House accounts in one batch, meaning that any points that were not awarded on October 9 will be merged with the points they are due for the November distribution (if they make predictions in October). Again, we have records of all players who were due points and the number of points they are owed.
As a reminder, please note that you do need to pick up your points every month. When the new points are distributed, the old points get wiped. In other words, if you did not make any predictions in October, but you missed the point distribution in September due to the error on our part, you will still need to pick your points up in November to receive the points you should have gotten in September.
We sincerely apologize once again for the inconvenience.
Our developer is working on overhauling the Xunlai Tournament House system, so that hopefully these errors do not occur in the future. The implementation of this solution is expected within the next few months.
If you have any problems with your account and you need assistance, please contact our Customer Support team.

That's unfortunate, but thanks for the heads up, Regina. It's good to know that the XTH will be worked on.

Thanks for the heads up. A couple of my guildmates got the problem, so i'll let em know whats up.
Smurf Minions
They gave me too many points, I'm not complaining
BTW: I always seem to get the same amount of points, maybe the problem lies there?

I sent in a support ticket for two accounts, on one i made predictions in August and September did not get either, on one account i only made predictions for SEptember. I know this cause i made the predictions and entered them and reviewed them.
Now ANet tells me they cant find my XTH account and to read Regnia's thread regarding tournament reward pts on wiki. So then I read the wiki, and i tried to log on the XTH in gw.com and amazing my account no longer was there and needed to make new XTH accounts. Amazing as i had logged on XTH and made teh predictions before and reviewed them. Not only did my XTH reward pts dissapear but my account as well >__< (One unhappy camper!!)

One of those things I was a bit surprised that it didn't get fully automated when it was used with the monthly tournaments. Good to see that it's going to get attention though!

There are some very serious issues currently with XTH that should be looked at, that could lead to loss of data and security breaches. Bad counts are only the tip of the iceberg really.
I think this feature is great, and participate every month. I'm happy to hear that Anet can budget some time in their already busy schedule for this rehaul, and hopfully fix some of the more serious issues I am sure they are already aware of (if not, I can give a more detailed report).

It's really weird how they had a similar problem last month, said they would fix it, then another problem happens again this month. Being a professional company and all, you think that with a month of time on their hands they could fix the system.

Well, I sent in a ticket to support and the stock answer I received was that the points were correct - DESPITE the fact I had identical predictions on another account that received the correct amount (which was an extra 75 RPs) so at the moment I have little faith that support even look at the tickets properlythe firsttime unless you press the issue.
EDIT: Actually I have just received a response from Gaile telling me that a number of my accounts had errors - so hurray for persistance - thanks Regina and Gaile

lets have double reward points next month to make up for these glitches

So that's why I was 50 points short on my second account. I was wondering what the hell was going on.

1. do you just need to speak to Kun Shao and receive your points? Or,
2. do you also need to speak with Tolkano and spend the points?

@Miss Drops Az (3 posts below) - Thank you very much. You explained that very clearly.
FrAnt1c??
I was wondering why I got so few points this month, now I know why

if they had a test server where people could test things out like CoH does, there might be less bugs hitting the live server. As it is, they can probably do in house testing but nothing on the magnitude of the live servers. besides, they might thought they had the problem pegged down and didn't know it was still a problem until it came up again.

Just to clarify this statement - To clear your account for the following month's distribution:
1. do you just need to speak to Kun Shao and receive your points? Or, 2. do you also need to speak with Tolkano and spend the points? |
Once you have your points on your account, you can spend them or keep them for as long as you wish - there is no requirement to spend them until you are ready as any further awards will just add onto your current balance.
Hope that helped.

What I don't understand is why those that didn't get the right points or those that didn't get them at all have to wait a full month to get the points they are due? Is it a system requirement or just want the mods want to do? It kind of seems unfair to make someone wait a whole month and then they have to make their predictions again to get what was coming to them. Guess I am not meant to understand.

In order for them to make the adjustements in mid month, they would have to check every account to see who had claimed and who had not and then make manual adjustments to the upload - extremely time consuming considering there are thousands of entries.
with the limited amount of time available to GW1 - I dont think thats an option. I do wonder if z keys will be slightly cheaper to buy up in Nov though .

This happens to me too, I get 105 point every month regardless of what predictions I make. A few months ago I even forgot to make the predictions and still got 105 points, so I'm not complaining.

Thank goodness, when I checked and got 5 I was surprised. I never make good predictions but DAMM 5 pts...Good news i guess...

Well, me and my friend got an issue then...
As stated, you have to pick up the points within the month... which is a problem for me and my friend. We made identical predictions (he just copies mine ^^) August as well as September, and have still not gotten any points from either of the two tournaments. So even if we do get the points for September when we get the October points, we'll probably have lost the August points still (since we missed our chance, even though we never had a chance).
The way I see it, the XTH, just like every other aspect of Guild Wars (skill balancing, for example), has been deserted for quite some time now. And they aren't going to get any more attention either. It's sad, because I once liked GW. But now I really see no point why I would continue on with GW2 when noone in support/tech/custserv even seems concerned with keeping GW1 up and running...
