Where do you place your elite?
GrimShade
That really depends on what the elite is, and what roll it plays in my build. Let's take a Warrior for example. I set up keys 1-3 attacks (slot 1 energy slot 2,3 adrenaline,) 4 utility, 5-6 stances/skills 7 other 8 rez.
IF...
Crippling/Dragon Slash/Quivering blade it will be slot 2 usually with slot 1 an energy attack
Hundred Blades slot 1 because it's an adrenaline builder and an energy lead attack
Glads/Soldiers stance slot 5
Headbutt/Shove slot 4
Warriors endurance slot 6 or 7
Granted I usually use an attack elite so that solves that issue...

Chthon
Depends on how often I expect to be using the skill.
I put my most used skills on 2 and 3, just a quick jump up from W.
Followed by 1 and 4, a little further away.
And then 5, 6, 7, and 8 in that order.

Daenara
Monk is always in my first slot.. the rest depends on how the skill chain goes. Paragon, warrior, ranger all go in 3rd slot for some reason.
Winterclaw
Depends on my class, the skill, and when and how often I need to use it.
For example WoH is always slot 1 but Mobius is usually on slot 4.

Whirlwind
Just depends on the build, some skills fit better in certain spots in relation to other skills depending on the build and how you play it. Imo you should place the skills in a way that makes it easier to understand and use the bar, disregarding golden borders.
Racthoh
Slots 2-4 - skills I generally use a lot. If it's my elite odds are I am going to need to use it quite frequently. If not then I could probably put my elite to better use.
Kinda odd but my finger isn't comfortable reaching for the 1 key so I don't put anything too important there.

Avarre
Depends on the skill type. 2-4 are most used, 5-6 for utility. If it's an interrupt I'd put it in 1 or 8.
StormDragonZ
Ranger is 2nd slot.
Warrior is 6th slot.
Elementalist is 7th slot.
Mesmer is 7th slot.
Necromancer is 6th slot.
So, in this case, I would put them mostly at the end of my skill bar.

MercenaryKnight
I always place skills in place of how much I use it. Spammable skills/ skills I use a lot are the first 4 for easy number hitting reach. All long maintainables or self heals/ utilities that I don't use much or don't have to recast a lot are 5-7 and 8 is a res.
I believe I have focused anger on my imbagon in slot 6, focused anger slot 7 and aggressive refrain slot 8.

Queenie
Always in the first slot, since I'll probably be using that skill the most.
miskav
First slot unless it's a support skill, then 6-7-8.
(Ofcourse excluding 'sin chains)
(Ofcourse excluding 'sin chains)
Pleikki
depends on the build.. first second third or 5th, sometimes last
Marty Silverblade
If theres a need to chain skills, I'll put them in order. Otherwise I'll generally group them according to what they do (i.e, attack skills first, offensive utility next, then defensive utility, then other stuff at the end).
Owik Gall
The PvE bar has it in the third slot from the left while the PvP has it in the second slot.
pumpkin pie
if it is an enchantment that does not require spamming, it number 7 slot
if it is a spammable elite attack/spell skills it will be in the number 4 slot
if it is an elite attack/spell skill that cannot be spam it will be on number 1
if i am going capping, elite skill will be number 7 slot with cap sig on number 6
number 8 is always a resurrection skill/sig
that way, any profession I play, I won't confuses my fingering.
PS: heros bar are arrange the same as well, haha, cos they are my template. but, the reason is, heros panel are arrange in a single file, top to bottom, on the far right hand side of the screen, it some how feel easier to get to, I don't know why, when using my mouse to micro manage them. and arranging them in a manner that I am use to i don't have to actually look at the skill, i can just click and it would be the right one. hehe

jaximus
unless its a maintained skills (hb for example) its always in the 3 slot. 1 and 2 are fast skills, ints mainly or attacks. 4 is utility 5 is rez, 6 is maintained,7 fast utility and 8 is quick cancel/prot spirit.i keep all my bars in the same orders with same functions assigned to a certain number. this way there is less readjusting time between classes after i play one for a bit.
Hyper.nl
That totally depends on the function of the skill. I usually have:
[ Signet of Lesser Energy | Spam skill | Dmg | Dmg | High Dmg w recharge | Misc | Enchantment | Enchantment ]
[ Signet of Lesser Energy | Spam skill | Dmg | Dmg | High Dmg w recharge | Misc | Enchantment | Enchantment ]
tmakinen
I play all professions regularly and each of them have several builds. To make switching easier, every build has skills ordered according to how often they are used. Combos are treated as a unit with individual skills of the combo going from left to right. Slot 8 is rez (except in AB and most of PvE that don't need one) and the elite is wherever it logically belongs to. Although most elites are used often and thus gravitate towards the left side of the bar, there are several that may go all the way up to slot 7 as well.
Arduin
Depends on the type of skill.
Attack skill: 1-4
Shout/Chant: 4-5
Stances: 5-7
Energy/Health Regen: 6-7
Ress: 8
That's the way all of my bars are set up, so it depends what type of skill the Elite is. Monk bar would differ a bit, but most of my bars look alike.

M1h4iL
I put my elite in the first slot almost all the time. If I feel like I won't be using it a lot then it goes in the last slot. I like to keep my top 5 skills in the first 5 slots so that I can quickly use them with my left hand. The rest I use with a mouse.
idicious
Depends on the build I'm running and the function of the elite, say if I'm running a d-slash build for my warrior it's on 5th slot (enduring, FGJ, enraging, flail, D-slash) etc.
Cebe
It's skill and build dependant. Depends how I want to use the build and where on the bar it's most convenient for me to have it.
I usually place energy management elites in slots 1 or 2, such as Offering of Spirit, Ether Renewal, Spirit Channeling and Healer's Covenant. For builds where I don't use such an elite I place the elite wherever it best fits, eg Elite attacks in Assassin chains.

Shadowhaze
Depends on what I'm using and the profession. But usually I put them in slots 1-4. Monk generally 1 if it's a major heal/prot. Others I pop them in how they'd best fit in the build for me (ex. - Barrage I might put on 2 or 3 and put Splinter and maybe another before that one.).
Faer
Slot 7 or 8. Activated by Q or A, respectively.
Phaern Majes
Usually in the first 3 slots. Some exceptions for the utility type elites. I'll usually throw those in 7 or 8.

I generally place my elite in the order im going to use it.
Like on a war I place my skills based on adrenaline cost so my elite will be in the 4th 5th space. Monk its usually in the first slot because its the one I use most(unless im using HB then its in the last slot.)
Just.nl
Depends on what build i use..
Normally i take a build from 'Great' from PvX-wiki. I never change it, i just get used to play with it and its getting normal. If you change you maybe dont make the good combination.

I try to follow the following "rules":
- Anything spammable goes in 1. If it can be echo'ed, then echo in 1, elite in 2. Or Splinter in 1, Barrage in 2. If I run a Mark of Pain B/p, Barrage still remains 1 'cause I can spam it mindlessly while casting MoP on 4, interrupt with 2-3, speed boosts with 5. But I always use MoP before Barrage.
- Anything that I can maintain for a while (20+ seconds) such as Healer's Boon and Elemental Attunement goes in 7 or 8.
- If the elite has to be chained or requires adrenalin, usually goes in slot 3, 4 or 5, depending on the combo.
- If I run I try not to set my "best" running skill to 1. I used to run Charge! on my warrior to run (I run with my sin or derv now) and it was usually 3 or 4, since 1 to 3 were mostly either other running skills (Sprint comes to mind) and a def skill (Heal Sig, Endure Pain, hex removal). Kinda kept that on my derv and sin... (VoS usually on 4 or 5 'cause I can focus on using Dash/Dark Escape on 1-2, have other useful ench/stances on 3 or 4...).

Snow Bunny
It matters per elite.
For twitchy elites, like Shield of Deflection, I put it on 3, where on my WoH bar Infuse would be. Pblock, Magebane, elites requiring reflex/twitch go on 3.
Condition removal for me is always 8, so RC is 8.
Everything else on 1.

payne
pends on what I'm running:
on my ranger: [broad head arrow] always at #2
[barrage] #3
[burning arrow] < in AB #2
on my PvP monk: [zealous benediction] #4
[word of healing] #2

Secksy
Always depends on the build I'm running, usually where it will have the most synergy. First or Fourth slot. On my rit, sine he usually uses Offering of Spirit in PvE, slot 7 right next to my res.
Kashrlyyk
Most of the times in slot 8.
FengShuiDove
Depends on the build. If possible, it's #2. In general, my most spammable or most used skill is slot #2. In a WoH bar that's my #2, Wounding Strike on my Critscythe is #2, Offering of Spirit on my Spirit Spammer is #2, etc. My "maintained" enchantments or buffs are usually 7-8 depending on if I bring a res. HB would be #7 on my bar as would any attunement.
Alleji
I place the elite based on what role it fills in the build. If the elite is just a generic attack-type skill (anything from eviscerate to cripshot) would be in slot 1.
I usually have interrupts in slots 4 and 5, so if I'm playing Pblock it would be in slot 5.
Basically, it's highly variable.

slot#7 always no matter wut even if it doesnt make sense i dont care wutever its goin on 7
this skill bar looks seksy as hell:
[executioner strike][frenzy][shock][res sig][bull's strike][rush][eviscerate][disrupting chop]

wilebill
I always put my Elite in the Xunlai Chest so it doesn't take up room on my bar.
Molock
Depends on the elite, interupt skill (regardless of elite or not) are always 1 and 2. So if my elite if Magebane Shot it will probably be 1. If the bar has no interupt and I am a caster it goes in slot 1 same for melee except assassin because of the skill chain configuration. Warrior might have an interupt in slot 1 and then my elite in slot 2.
Gah, it really depends and since I play pretty much all profession (except rit) it would take me too long to describe all the situations. Lets just say general rule slot 1 or 2.

Esprit
Slot 1 unless it's a non-damage skill on a damage dealing character, such as Elemental Attunement being slot 6 or 7 on my Elementalist.
fowlero
Depends entirely on what the skills functionality is as i place condition removals/bigheals/rupts etc etc all in specific places.
However with melee classes it's nearly always slot #1.

komma
90% of the time it goes in slot 1.....if i have a pre-cast skill then slot 2. old habits die hard.
