Screenshot Sharing
Aubrey
I'd like to see a way to share screenshots in game with other players quickly and easily.
Maybe similiar to sharing template code, you could simply have a clickable green link that say something like: "Aubrey would like to share a screen shot with you: GW12345.jpg"
And similiarly, you could have a way to view the screenshots in game yourself, maybe in your Guild Hall or HoM?
To Credit: Did you not see the "in game" part of the thread?

Me and a guildie was actually talking about this a while back.
Even had the same idea for how to have it set up, since all screen shots go to the same folder *and, like with templates, you can organize screenshots in that folder via name, additional folders within that one, etc.* Something like this can be put in GW1.
I'm Azazel, and I /sign this suggestion.

The players are too dumb to be worth the risk.
/I am not Pushing Daisies for this suggestion.

That would have to be stored on a server somewhere. Anet doesnt do storing things server side. Everything is stored client side.

oooo good idea, especially if you had - 1. a preview window that would show the pic before you actually select it, much like the skill templates, and 2. in reference to the HoM, that there would be some "viewing screen" or something, like a 5th tapestry section that would be for viewing your pics

How is what I said making the pictures stored server side? It would be the exact same as how templates are stored, but without the code of templates.

so basicly you could put anything in your screenshot folder and send it via guild wars to any player?
sounds like an easy way to spread bad things^^

The last thing we need is for the bandwidth of the GW servers to be clogged down by images of naked elementalists dancing in sync to be shared left and right. Lag is bad enough, this is a bad suggestion.

just upload a screeny on the internet and put the url in as the template name so it can be ctrl+c.

Screenshots are not seen ingame, so there is no reason to add an in-game option to share them.
If the game had an internal screenshot viewer, it would be a different thing.
And, of course, the sharing system would have to be P2P, so servers won't have to deal with picture transfer transactions, only clients.

If you are going to shoot down every suggestion that has a way to be abused, well, that's going to be a sad day in the development of the game. I'm sure the original developer of strafing or jumping in a game never thought you could abuse it to run faster. Also, using the argument that this would take too much time to be worth it in GW1 and they are not focussing on GW1 anymore or similiar arguments is kind of a mute point. Suggestions for how to make the game better couldn't come at a better time than in the development stages of a game, when there is still time to work some things into it. Nobody said that it HAS to be GW1 to be included in this forum.
I'm a programmer and I know there are ways to reduce lag as well as not allowing executable code or non-images. And I don't just mean changing the extension or image name. If *I* can figure out how to do this in my programs, surely the talented people that they have would be able to come up with a way.
The additional bandwidth is a bit of an issue, but I think there are ways to do this "safely" and not cause lag including separating this module from the actual game servers or even partnering with an external image delivery mechanism.
And MithranArkanere: I did say that it would be cool to have a screenie viewer in game if you would but just read a little farther before posting.
Anyway, I thought it would just be cool.
