We have Halloween coming up, Talk Like a Pirate Day/Weekend flew by, and it will not be long until Winteresday is here.

I know how I feel about special events, but how about the rest of you? Do you:
  1. Do you Love them wish there were more
  2. Love them but think there are enough
  3. Hate them but there are enough
  4. Hate them wish there were less
  5. No opinion one way or another

I'd like to go over our events and ask if the rest of you feel like I do and would like to have an event every month of the year. Not full blown ones but small weekend ones.

There are already Events every month of the year except May, June, and August.

As of right now the calendar looks like this:
January - Wentersday End and sometimes Cantha New Years
February - Cantha New Years
March - Lucky Weekend and sometimes Easter
April - April Fools, GW Birthday and sometimes Easter
July - Dragon Festival and Wintersday in July
September - Talk Like a Pirate Day/Weekend
October - Halloween
November - Special Treats Weekend
December - Wintersday Start and maybe Visit EotN for the Holidays again

Major Events:
Wintersday - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Wintersday
C. New Years - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Canthan_New_Year
GW Birthday - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Birthday_Celebration
Dragon Festival - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dragon_Festival
Halloween - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Halloween

Minor Events:
Lucky Weekend - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lucky_weekend
Easter - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Easter
April Fools - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Categ...l_Fools%27_Day
Winteresday in July - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Wintersday_in_July
Talk Like a Pirate Day/Weekend -
Special Treats - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Special_Treats_Weekend
Visit EotN -http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Visit_Eye_of_the_North_for_the_Holidays

Non-reoccurring Events:
Day of teh Tengu - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Day_of_the_Tengu
Gaile Grey Farewell - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Farewell_to_Gaile
Nightfall PvP preview Event - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild..._Preview_Event
Which also goes with: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_Medallion

As you can see for this list there are 3 months with no events and 3 events that will not reoccur.

Would you as the Gw community like to have these no-reoccurring events to be held in one of these months that have no events scheduled? What Ideas would you have for those empty spots?

A few of mine would be:

Day of Tengu: Keep the quest but change the rewards to festival tickets, no mask, and open up the board walk with the collectors that go along with it. I think May would be a good month for this one.

GG Farewell: Change the name to something to do with remembering the frog, keep the event as is but move it to August.

Nightfall PvP Event: Make this a PvP event, change the name to something to do with Balthazar, bring back the Zaishen Medallion rewards that were given during the event, and open up all the Battle Isles locations or provide a Priest of Balthazar to transport players to the other areas. This would be a good one for June.

One of my favorite things about this game are the events and I'd like to have at least one per month. These events have already been written and wouldn't take much revamping to put back into the game.

I read someones comment on Linseys (dev) page where they suggested having the GG day as "Frog Days of Summer" for August - seemed a great idea to me as practically everything is there ready made.

Same with the Tengu event. I missed it coz although I had the pre order thing, I was in Las Vegas and my internet dropped, so Id like the opportunity to do that for the first time.

for me the best thing about them is that they bring a lot of ppl together...say in Shing Jea, you have mesmers comparing fashion, gay paragons breakin it down with female rits and eles...and lamers trying to scam. Ahhh...that's what an MMO should be like

QFT. Events like those should come around at least once every other month.

Well, all I need is snowball arena (although I will play some costume brawl too) for gamer rank 3 and I'm happy.

But Pirate Day and Easter are some of my favorite (as they are great title grind reducers and GREAT opportunities to turn profits from power trading).

Personally I don't really care for the holiday events, it doesn't matter to me either way.

Why? Well considering how they are usually on the day of the real life event I wouldn't be home or would be busy in real life with the actually holiday. Take The GW Halloween Festival for example, I'd rather be out with friends than sitting at a computer playing GW.

Some people like the events, hey that's fine, but I'd rather be out with friends and family.

I used to love them. They do bring people together. I am happy there are as many as there are, but I wish the major holiday ones would evolve and change a bit more than they do, namely Halloween and Wintersday.

Edit: Forgot to vote. I vote #2. I dont think we need more as much as it might be nice to surprise us further with additions and changes to existing ones as they come up.

I just wish the boardwalk was open more often (and maybe during the week for a change rather than a weekend only as most events are).

I love them. Wish we had one every month. But as I have suggested before:

-Make them last a week after the finale (if there is a finale)
-During that week, have a HAT-npc handing out hats for collectible drops and event-quest-rewards that can be easily gotten.
-Have a herald NPC running around announcing the finale, and after the finale, have him point out the HAT-npc.

This will give people with busy social lives the chance to farm stuff or get hats áfter the finale (which is usually during weekends), ánd it will provide clear info on how and when to get the hats (less crazy people spamming "WHEN'S THE FINALE??? HOW MUCH LONGER??? ARE THERE HATS YET?? HOW DO I GET ONE??? OMGOMGOMGINEDONENOWWW!!!!oneone!!one11111eleven!)

I don't like them anymore it's all just getting too commercialised, they arent like they used to be, they used to be about getting together with your friends and having fun but now its all about who can farm the most event items and sell them. All the kids are seeing their friends with shiney new Tormented Shields and they want them too so the parents have to farm hard and long and they forget the meaning of events . I remember back in the day I never knew what a charr carving was for or what a cupcake did and I was happy.. sigh.

I like events. Although i rarely manage to catch any with boarding school . I guess its kind of a good thing to have a break from them since i guess they could get old...Theyre a great fun either way.

I really love them, it's great because there's always a lot of people online and actually chatting, which is pretty rare when there's nothing going on, and the unique items are a lot of fun to collect.

More would be good, but I do think it would be better if they simply changed up the ones they already have a bit more. If that's not possible, then having one every month or two would certainly be a good idea.

I really like the events and there should be more of em.
Maybe some more items than sweets, alcohol and party stuff.
Something you can wear or equip would be nice (full armor stats) or other novelties like the green diseased effect or soothing images which you can switch on or off.
Nightfall has to have it's own event though, harpy or heket related maybe?
EotN has some nice Quetzal which would make a nice event and could reward something similar to the tengu mask.
Anyway, keep those events coming!!!!

i personally would like to see events like the harvest festival and maybe an asuren and charr event just to see how different thous events are. i would also like to see them in some of the towns that are hardly visited.

Edit: i would how ever like to see a few bonus for some of the mini events like gaile's farewell party how they had the "Party Time!" effect. i would like to see the return of that along with one for drunkerd and sweets titles. the only change to the buffs i would make is that you would be able to use it in your hall.

I really like having the special events and festivals in GW. Halloween is my favourite. It would be nice to have more of them, but then having too many would just make them less special. One a month is probably pushing it, considering that some of the events last for a week or more...though it would be nice for the boardwalk to be opened one or two times more a year.
