Change birthday feature
sigshane
Who thinks that, to avoid confusion and uncertainty over when your character's birthday is, that they could change the feature so that you receive the present on YOUR birthday.
Now, before people start flaming me over identity theft and exposing players' age and all that, you could safely give the month and day of your birth, not the year.
You could get a present on your birthday for each character that had been "alive" for at least one year, to prevent people from creating 11 new characters the day before, then deleting them after moving the gifts to their chest.
I have three characters now, and it seems like I have been playing one of them long enough to earn a 2nd year present, but the /age thingy is so cryptic that I don't know how old she is!

ya not the best idea, its not broken and its not that confusing so /notsigned
Aubrey
No. Just no. Although, I agree the /age command is cryptic. I wish it at least told you the day of your char's b-day.
/not signed in a big way.

It is good the way it is now. By birthday presents anet awards people who played long enough on one character. This an incentive to buy a new char slot and not constantly re-roll characters. I think the system works fine and there is no need to change it. So NO.
cosyfiep
so that means on my birthday I would get a prezzie for EACH of my characters or just one?????
so uhm NO I keep track of all of my characters birthdays, it aint that hard, geez.

Dr.Jones
a better way to fix this is to go in and change the /age comand to tell you when your toon was created.

Okay, okay. Bad idea, I get it.
A simpler output for /age than
"You have played this character for 271 hours five minutes over the past 7 months. Across all characters, you have played 356 hours 49 minutes over the past 24 months."
Can anyone translate that for me, please? And the character I was on at the time was my very first one, so she should be coming up on B-day number 2, right?

That says your char is 7 months old.

/notsigned,its pointless to change it,i do agree on changing the /age command though.

Presents are based on the individual character. Across all characters simply states how long the account has been in existence and how many total hours you have played. Not that hard of a concept to grasp.
Luminarus
No thanx, its an ingame reward, not a reward for irl. If you want a present on ur bday regardless, suggest that (again bad idea), but this idea is worse.
pumpkin pie
/not sign, because i want 16 birthday present instead of one every year

Sharkman and Marty,
I DO understand English, guys. Let me speak some of my own: I have a character, Aprile Woodfolk. She was the first character I created, when I first installed Guild Wars, 24 months ago. How can she be only 7 months, or (1year) and 7 months old? That just doesn't make sense, does it? I am pretty sharp at math, too, and that does not add up.

/notsigned. Besides, to implement this idea Anet would need a birthday input at the original point of access; and that means more work. More work for a completely pointless addition.
@Above Poster; you must be mistaken. The character you were on at the time must have been a character you created later. Perhaps you've just forgotten. Do the /age command on each of your characters. One of them will say s/he is 24 months old. THAT will be your first character. No one will blame you if you've made an honest mistake. I often forget that my most played character wasn't my first one.

Whenever I make a new character, I make a note of the date on a notepad that I have by my computer....takes me all of a couple of seconds and it saves me all the confusion over when the presents should be appearing in my characters' inventories. Having said that, it would be nice to be told the 'birthdate' of the character when using /age.
Considering we already get these presents for free, and ANet weren't under any obligation to give these to us, it would be rather cheeky (and perhaps somewhat ungrateful) to ask for a present on the player's birthday as well.

I say no thanks, as the only thing worth changing would be a statement of the date. Everything else works just fine.
