Well, my goal here is to get an access key, just that, but the thing is, that eye of the north is the only one available at the nearest store, so if i buy it, will the access key tht comes with it work to create a guildwars account?
I dont have any other GW games but i already downloaded the client, either way all i need now is an access key right? i mean eye of the north, nightfall, prophecies and factions are just patches right? All i need is an access key. |

The cd that comes with the games is only the client (which you downloaded) plus the .DAT file that was current when the cd was written. The CD itself, is just a timesaver when loading the game to your computer. Access keys are they important thing. There are different access keys for the different games, however.
An access key from the original Guild Wars game ("Prophecies" / Chapter 1) will give you access to that storyline, which takes place mostly on the continent of Tyria. With this you can create a character of one of the 6 original/core classes (Warrior, Elementalist, Monk, Mesmer, Necromancer, Ranger). An access key from the second Guild Wars game ("Factions" / Chapter 2) will give you access to that storyline, which takes place mostly on the continent of Cantha. This introduces the character classes of Assassin and Ritualist, though you can still create characters of the core classes as well. An access key from the third Guild Wars game ("Nightfall" / Chapter 3) will give you access to that storyline, which takes place mostly on the continent of Elona. This introduces the classes Dervish and Paragon, and introduces Heroes to the game (customizable NPCs). You can also still create characters from the original 6 core classes. An access key from Eye of the North can be added to an account which contains any or all of the above campaigns. EotN is simply an expansion, cannot be used stand-alone (unlike the 3 full campaigns above). You cannot create a new character here, it is simply designed for extra content for existing characters (as well as create a slight bridge of storyline between the existing games and the future game of Guild Wars 2). An account can contain a combination of access keys from any of the above, though as stated you cannot have an account with just EotN on it. If an account has multiple campaigns unlocked on it, then your characters from go from one storyline to the next if you so choose (look up "Port" on the wiki).
