I was trying out some assassin build the other day for Alliance Battle. And I thought I make a male assassin for a change. And then I stumble upon this, what in my opinion is quite unacceptable.

Like a previous finding, I thought the facial features were all mapped on textures, but turns out, only a few of the facial features have the same facial structure (the 3D frame) most of it are different in the jaw line area, and nose.

when you choose your hairstyle, you are choosing the 3D frame of the face attached to the hairstyle that you have chosen, and this "part" is attached to the body according to its profession.

therefore we don't or cannot change the hairstyle because it is one single part of the "head", and as Arena Net has responded that it simply cannot be done.

But what if, this is where i need your input, what if:
we seperate the facial structure from the hairstyle and treat the hairstyle like body shape or hat?

So when you create your character, they are all bald or comes with one single hairstyle that later one you can buy new ones in the game? that is if arena net would somehow separate those structure in the first place.

whats your thoughts?

Now comes the problem with making hairstyle = like a hat.
1) festival hat - not really that big a problem by making them have a standard hairstyle now that everyone started bald
2) head gear - need to be able to stack with the hair.

Which is a big problem and if there's a way that hat + head gear (that actually have armor) can be put into the same slot then we are on the right track to making it possible to change our hairstyle.

I'm sure there are far more important aspects of the game to work on rather than hairstyles, such as game balance and some kind of trading system. What a bad idea. Either pick hair you like, or wear a hat that covers it, it's not like anyone cares about hairstyles.

Just like most pointless replies ever, half of the posts I see on this forum are "LOL +1" bandwagon shit posts. Seriously.

If you look at what the hair does when you have the yule cap on, actually all the festival hats with the exception of the horn sets, they already have a bald head. The hair goes away when you wear them and the head just has the hat on. I think it's the other way around, where you have a set head shape and a variable hair piece that is put on it. That being the case, it seems like they could make hair styles that the characters can change.

Perhaps they'll add a way to change hairstyles on the GW birthday, like they did with the much wanted Hardmode and and endgame area for Prophecies. Other than that I don't hold out much hope for it, though I'd really, really like them to add this feature. :/

There are threads in Sardelac about changing hair already. Closed.
