Please help, I have vista and doing a repair/upgrade/repair startup has not helped. I don't think Directsong is incompatible with vista...

I bought this new computer but I would like to get this lovely music working.

Anyone?

This is a Windows Media player error. Go to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...Downloads.aspx and see what version you have and whether there is a more recent version you can use .

What this indicates is that Windows Media Player is not properly installed. To correct the issue, uninstall Windows Media Player then reinstall it. You should be able to do it using Add/Remove Programs, Windows Componets section which should be in control panel. Vista comes with WMP 11.0 installed as a componet so going to Microsoft.com may not be all that helpful, unless an update to WMP failed to install properly.

Thank you for your replies.

You see windows media player is included as a component in the Operating System (Vista), and my version (11.0.6001.7102) is undownloadable as it is included in Vista SP1.

Apparently the only way to reinstall media player is by installing the whole OS again, which I really dont want to.

Any other way anyone aware of to either reinstall media player or fix it?

Thank you again for your replies.

Hi,

When you attempt to install a program onto your computer you will encounter Runtime Error 339 if a specific .ocx file has been misplaced. More specifically, a Runtime Error 339 occurs when you inadvertently try to circumvent a program and utilize its features.

How to Fix a Runtime Error 339:

First you need to check the validity and credibility of the program that you are trying to run. If you installed the application poorly then certain bits of information will be missing. Sometimes these take the form of ActiveX files or Java files. You need to ensure that the files are intact and undamaged. It's also important that you check and then clean the Windows Database, validate null values and check discarded files. If any of these are in the wrong location or if they have been corrupted then you will encounter errors.
