I actually dont get the purpose of the 12 char limit... but yeah its one of guru's reqs.
The QQ tears are used because so many individuals winge and moan about something or other, so they are called QQ threads.

I always thought the 12 character limit is there to encourage you to actually post something productive/constructive/useful.
