Fire Wand and Dye

Ok, I've got 3 standard fire wands in storage at the moment. An inscribable grape, a collector one from Bahlbahs in Vehjin Mines, and one that was crafted by Shausha in the Command Post. None of them accept dye. I'm especially foul about the third one after dropping 5k on it.

Anyway, does anyone know if the Fire Wand has been changed at some point so it's no longer dye-able? Or can dye only be applied to certain ones? The wikia entry has a dye chart, so I assumed that the crafter version would be ok.

I think only some can by dyed.

You should check wiki by typing WAND and then click on the each wand for that attribute and see if they can be dyed. Also check them under the universal wands

i thought crafter items cannot dyed, maybe was just me. the grape should be colorable, unless some of certain attributes dont die, doesnt seem likely anyway.

Well I have dyed several crafted items like the NORN shields that I crafted in GW:EN

So I am not sure if I can craft a Norn Fire wand and then dye it. That said I have several swords that I have crafted from the Norn and I have dyed them.

Fire wands are sooooo odd,some dye and some dont..insc/non insc..gold/purple/blue/white..where they drop,none of it seems to matter.
No collector/trader wands seem to dye,though.

I've found that I can dye flame/storm/water artifacts and water staffs (hexagonal skin) that come from Tyrian collectors (edit - and Earth Scrolls.) I can't dye the ones that drop from monsters and chests. I haven't tried crafter or collector versions from other campaigns.

IIRC, collector holy rods won't dye but dropped ones will.

I've never tested Fire Wands, but it sounds like you're running into the same kind of weirdness. The wikis are often unclear about which ones from where will and won't dye.

Given that your inscribable purple one won't dye, my best guess is to try getting one from a Tyrian or Canthan collector and see if it dyes. Sorry.

tyrian/canthan ones are your best bet, but some just dont dye for whatever reason

Today I had a Fire Wand drop from a Charr while farming carvings. Shortly after that I had purple dye drop. So I decided to check it out, and the wand accepted the dye. Sorry, but I didn't take a screenshot. Was a white Fire Wand that dropped from a Charr in Diessa Lowlands.
