Black Rectanglual Screen of Death

Well Vista is at it again.

I once again have the Black Rectangluar Screen of Death. Not only that but 2 Guild Wars Clients running at the SAME time on my task bar when the error happens.

Where does it happen? Only in High End Areas. That's right. i can kill charr at Fort Ranic till I go blue in the face but go to the Central Transfer Station or the CoF and I get the SAME error.

Never happens anywhere else. Oh what's more is the I have access to a lap top some of the time and it can get there but I can not.

When I get trapped I need to use the laptop to get my toon out of the area cause it will not load. As a matter of a fact when I log back in i am missing all my armor and am naked (Yickes) scares me sometimes.

So do I give up ever playing in the underworld or Cof or getting the Cloth of the brotherhood on my Hero's forever?

What is with that.

So why can I do everything but go to these places..

I have a secret that I found too.. if I go to the underworld or CoF and min the window and wait for 3 or 4 minutes I can do each lvl but if someone runs ahead and triggers the next lvl before I can min the screen then I am trapped there until I can have someone else log in on my account and then map me to LA or someplace - not CTS of course.

What causes this?

GW.dat is most likely corrupted,uninstall gw and reinstall,should fix.

re-download the .dat...it's been happening to me too but I don't run Vista. It seems to me that downloading such a large file from Anet tends to screw things up every now and then. I think it has something to do with the game erroring your video card trying to load up too many textures at once, or some bad textures overall.

My PC used to crash every time i'd log into a missio, not zone, just missions, and -image fixed everything. its amazing, and if not...uninstall and reinstall, that should fix it...it a pain in the assassin, but it should fix it.

Ummm if -image fixes stuff, what -repair does?

Do a disk defragment, GW.dat is so large, that files tend to be scattered all over your disk segments and it runs slow. Defragment your disk and hopefully you can get everything running together instead removing most problems. Also, your card driver might be out dated or one that isn't fully compatible with GW. On my laptop, I had an integrated Intel chipset that ran GW just fine until Nightfall came out. I was unable to do it , everytime I was in Elona and tried to start a mission, I would BSOD. Otherwise, Proph and Factions ran fine.

To me, it sounds like your GPU isn't getting enough power to do any advanced functions... post your voltages here please.
