Account getting older while toons stay the same age...
Maere
I am looking to see if anyone else has this problem. I contacted ANET and they are useless, go figure. They don't GET it. I have a lot of GW toons - about 70 - I like to make toons. I am not a great player, but I get by. I like to get the pressies too. I had made a list of all my toons and how old they are on particular days (should have thought about writing down the exact date, but that's past now, I have done that with more recent toons). On 20 September I checked one account which is Nightfall only. I now have 5 toons on the account. The first 4 were made in the first day or two of the account being opened - the start date of Nightfall, and the 5th was made a year ago. On 20 Sept the account was 23 months old and the 5th toon was 11 months old. On 1 October the 5th toon was 12 months and got her first birthday pressie. On 22 October the account was shown as 25 months old (still is) and the toons are all 23 months old. Doesn't that seem odd? Doesn't that scream "error"? ANET doesn't think so. Has anyone else had this problem? I have one other account which is strictly Nightfall, but I have not yet hit the second birthday. It is due soon as one toon was 22 months on 20 Sept and 23 months on 29 Sept. I have no idea what will happen there.
If you want a screen cap I can add it. Also: none of the toons were deleted and re-rolled, or replaced.

This seems odd alright. Why buy NF twice? Was it cheaper to get all those char slots by just buying a new copy of the game?
If you made your chars on the day NF launched, that would be 28/10/06, then they won't reach their birthday til that date.
The account would show as xx months old depending on when it was created, not when the chars were created so you must have created the account days or weeks before these chars.
Just seems like you have your dates confused there. Wait til the 28th

I threw all hope of figuring out my toon's age out the window when too many people complained before the last birthday celebration that their characters weren't getting presents but had passed the age where they were meant to get them.
And also, the leap year.
Instead, I remembered the date of creating my main character, and I'm satisfied with that.

Anet is useless, and never will understand your problem, its most likely just a glitch in when it says the account was made,if you bought it when NF came out its a week or two before you should have birthdays.
Oh,and maere,you are a great player.

My thoughts exactly. I understand up to 20... but more than that seems unfathomable, even on multiple accounts, even if 69 of them were fore minipets.

- Nightfall was released on October 27, 2006
- The Guild Wars Nightfall Prerelease Bonus Pack was released on September 15, 2006
Maybe it has something to do with this?

Uh....70 chars? wat? That's ridiculous. I can't even bring myself to make more than 1 profession :\
bhavv
I have 15 characters since back when it was epic difficult having to reroll characters for PVP.
Then they made rerolling easier and shot me in the foot.

I have 13 I think, but half of them aren't mine, and 2 of them are PvP slots >.>
assassin shaun
just got a question about character birthdays - what happens if you make your character on the 29th of february? do u get one birthday every four years and then get four presents at once???
Phaern Majes
lmao.... I have one of each class + extra slot for another warrior and another slot for pvp. So...12 in all. And I thought I was overkill :S
Anon-e-mouse
I have 28 toons over 3 accounts. The plan was to have 1 PvE toon and 1 PvP toon from each profession. Never really got into PvP, so they became mules.

You aren't, really, I was asking about account vs toon aging, but if you need some help you could say "I assume you are a shopping addict", or "My, that's excessive, do you get nice armour for all of them?"

70 toons?
Anet is just laughing at you for that I would imagine. I don't know though...

I'm warm all the time. 70 may seem a bit much to you, but to me it's just right. What is a bit much is how many extra devourer minipets I get.

That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.

In other words, you blew 7,000 dollars on characters, plus the time to earn 7 grand, plus the time to develop those characters.

Try again 619.28 cents. HE only had to buy 62 slots at 9.99$ each in addition to the 3 campaigns.

Maere, it is obvious from the responses most of us think you are an idiot for having that many characters. However, don't let the mods on Guru think the same thing. STOP POSTING MULTIPLE TIMES IN A ROW. Edit a post, don't add a new one. 4 posts in a row is sad, very sad.
As you seem to have figured out, the account can be older than the characters due to the pre-release period. The account would be started at that time, while the characters wouldn't be started until the game went live. Wouldn't matter that they were made during the pre-release phase, they wouldn't be in the system until the game went live.
As for the question asked about characters made on Feb 29, they would get 4 birthday presents over 4 years, not 1. Character age is not determined by a date, but by a number of days.

I have 7 characters and 1 slot for PvP and i find it hard to play with all of them (ever since the titles thing)
And why having mutiple accounts?
Why people have it? If you need more character slots you just have to buy more character slots, right?
And dude... that WoW guy is insane!
I can barely manage my own skills + heroes, i cant imagine using 11 characters with more than 20 skills at once!
This is just wrong!

I bought a 3rd account as the "Guild Mule" last year when they were going for $10 at Best Buy after Thanksgiving. Cheaper than buying extra characters.
In no way can I understand the need to have 70 toons tho.

I've had issues with character age too. I created a number of toons 12 months ago (took screenshots with the pc's clock up) and they didn't /age from feb - april of this year. it was like time stood still for them.
Additionally, my oldest characters, their age seems to ignore the time spent in pre-searing. I brought my first character to post-searing on New Years Eve night, after spending several days in pre-searing, three years ago. Yet that characters' /age is set for New Years Eve night each year.
And we're not alone. I know many people in the real world who have had this same trouble with pre-searing time not being counted. And like you, aNet's support staff werent interested in helping me either.
In response to questions raised about you having 70 characters, I'm honestly not surprised. I have 7 accounts. In the old days, you couldnt buy character slots and even after slots become a buyable commodity, it was usually cheaper to buy a copy of the game.
I use most of mine for storage and as placeholder accounts in guilds.

Riddle - My (1 and only) account says it's 38 months old, but my oldest toon just turned 36 months old - how can this be!
Answer - I deleted my first character when it was 2 months old. My account is 38, my character is 36.
(Disclaimer - all times are approximate.)

yep I know about the pre-sear thing, my hubby and his brother got the game at the same time, they played for a week or so before they left pre and at that time played until they had enough plat to make a guild---at that point the game decided that was the creation date for their characters...not when they had started in pre, but the date they created our guild ......so their accounts are older than their first characters (and no, my hubby does not delete characters...for any reason)
(and my first characters had late first birthdays as well....2nd year was too soon and 3rd year I was out of town for...)

I have 2 accounts, 1 is my main, and one is my rarley played on PvP only (for the most part) that resides in the Smurf guild. A place where we can test GvG builds without effecting our current rank/rating or displaying to other top guilds what our new build/tactics are.
Anyway, 12 slots on my main, 3 PvE and 9 PvP, I hate rerolling.
Alt has 6 slots, or is it 8? I forget I don't use it much now that I stopped GvGing a couple months ago.

Actually, I noticed i have same "problem". /age shows that my account is 25months old, but odd thing 'bout this is that when i use it at my first toon (really first, no re-rolls or anything), it shows that char is only 24months old. It really doesn't bother me that much, but just noticed it today.

Please, for your own sake, take a math class.
However, spending this much money to move pixels around on a screen is excessive. I suggest an intervention.
Concerning the OP's actual, on-topic problem, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe your connection is slow and you have a two-month lag? I dunno. Just keep asking Anet. I'm sure in between taking naps on large piles of your money they can come up with an answer for you.
Edit: The prices above are for purchasing campaigns separatley at prices quoted when I bought the various campaigns. I found this at Amazon, and using that price we can assume the following:
- Minimum investment: $422.91 (all separate accounts, no expansion slots)
- Maximum investment: $666.37 (one account, 62 expansion slots)
- Retarded investment: $719.82 (all Nightfall accounts, no expansion slots)
This is the current market price of the OP's addiction.
