1 person, 8 accounts, mass halloween prizes...

Would it be against the rules if i were to operate 8 accounts (which i own) at halloween using keyclone to get all of them to do the right emotes to get rewards.

I asked PlayNC and they said...
Like they said, it is not technically rule breaking, but at the least would you guys view it as ethically wrong?

How to multi-log/clone
1. Exit GW client (if open) copy and paste all the files at the GW directory to a new folder.
2. Download XVI32, open it and go to the new client and go to replace: Guild Wars (text) to aaaaa aaaa (text) then click replace all.
3. Save it, and repeat step one for as many accounts you own.
4. Repeat step 2, but instead of aaaaa aaaa change all a's to then next alphabet, eg, bbbbb bbbb (for 3rd folder) ccccc cccc (for 4th) etc.
5. Download keyclone (im using registered one)
6. Set it up to work with all Guild Wars clients (look for tut on tinternet)
7. Open all clients, sign in, and minimize all but 1 client, make the 1 client full screen and type or whatever.

Keyclone mimicks what you say to all clients, if you see a gang of peeps with [MinT] as their guild, they are all me.

Good god. I have 2 accounts, which I bought before Factions was released. I did so because there was no other way at the time to obtain more character slots, and I wanted to have 1 of each class. I now use that second account so little, I gave it to my nephew to use. Why in the world would anyone want/need more than 2 accounts?

I don't see anything wrong with using a program to make all the accounts do the same thing, but as noted in the email from Anet, it is close to what botting is. Just make sure that you do not cross the line and use such a program to do anything that would be botting.

Sorry, but that is an aweful lot of real world money for virtual goodies. Wish I had money to throw away like that I guess.

I wouldn't see it ethically wrong really, as it's nothign differant then people doing it with 2 accounts or the dragon festival afk drops etc. at least this way your at the keyboard. ( I know its a differant event)

One reason for multiple accounts is simply the price per character. To add 8 characters through the online store is $80. Or you can pay $40 to $50 (prices I've seen recently) to buy the Trilogy and get those same 8 characters plus all the extra storage. Simple economics.

On topic, using something like keyclone sounds a bit like a bot to me, but I guess it is in a gray area. I have two accounts and will have them both active, one in LA and one in Kam, mainly just to get the masks. But I'll only play the one during the follow along games.

But, please remember the rule is to prevent automated play. If it does become automated gameplay you can be actioned for botting.

Ill reiterate this part for you. As you will be automating the process of your other accounts. So yes it is illegal and you do it at your own risk. There was a thread awhile ago about it not sure what forum it was on. But it was on the same program and about farming with it and its the same procedure.

Beta perhaps you can explain something for me. are you running 8 clients on one computer or on 4? if you are running on one computer i thought the max was 2 please fill me in - ty

The only issue I see that you could run into is if you move around. I'm assuming you'll be in the same districts with all of them (only way you can ensure you're using the right emotes). Just make sure you stand still and don't move or people will see 8 accounts moving exactly the same. If you stand still and just do the emotes nobody will know so you won't get "caught". Even if you do get "caught" just save that email from support and they'll most likely remove the ban because they told you it is technically ok.

I guess you are assuming i'm operating using GWx2, which i am not...
See effectively i'm doing what that program does by editing the hex info for the GW client -However that only edits Guild Wars to Gu1ld Wars, which means you can open 2.

Let me explain...
The client has a restriction that prevents you from opening the client multiple times, each one is give a name (Guild Wars by default) and only 1 client of each name can be opened. By editing the hex of each client to a new name of similar char length, you can manipulate the clients so that multiple ones can be opened.
