The weird effect when time stands still, but you can move around unhindered. It happens every now and then and it is caused by massive lag. My question is does the effect count towards mapping? My guess is no, but I do not know for sure since every time it has happened I have been in a place I have been before. Example of this was today I was able to run from inside Port Sledge to inside Droknar’s Forge. Run around the forge to the next portal area but the map disappeared at that point. I was able to walk thru doors unhindered.

No, it doesn't count. During the lag you are not in contact with the server and it doesn't record where you've been.

In fact, most mapping guides will instruct you to move slowly when mapping. This is to prevent SMALL lags from having you skip areas. Running skills and mapping are often a bad idea, as you are past a spot to get mapped before the server records it.

No, if you are not in connection with the server, you are not recording the mapping.

you can make a trail of red dots when in lag mode, but no areas are uncovered during this time

nope, the server doesnt record anything that happen during lag, since lag basically mean times when you loose contact with the server.
