Ele
Pros
There awesome.
There the most versitile prof for pve(even better then necro imo).
they look good in chaos gloves, unlike any other prof other then monk.(does that count?)
Unsteady ground, best reason to make an ele.
AP+malestrom/deep freeze/pve skills.
Cons
I cant come up with any, other then maybe that every thing in hard mode has 199998887767668 armor vs elements, but thats why AP+water and pve skills=awesome.
Female ele dance is bad,but that dosent really count..

Assassins

In PvE, they dominate..nothing can come close to the insane damage output of Moebius/DB, and few melee classes can match the sheer power that comes with permanent crit defenses AND crit agility...I mean, I'm so used to having 110 AL, 75% Block (defensively) and unblockable attacks which do reeeeally high damage, plus deep wound/kd/degen depending on what you fancy at the moment, I really find anything else lacking (warrior? dervish? para? booo!!)

Oh yea, and I don't PvP, so I don't care that they got nerfed to oblivion and had most of their good builds killed off.

If I had to pick a close second, I'd say Necromancer. They're really strong and when I play on my Ele for instance, its embarassing how weak all other caster classes are.

Ritualist, on account that I greatly enjoy playing versatile classes. Ritualist is likely the most diverse class in terms of what and how much it can bring to the table, so, ergo, I enjoy it. There's just something appealing about being able to deal damage, heal, buff, and run all with one character. Of course, I'm talking mainly about PvP, since you're most likely insane if you run any caster in PvE that isn't a Necro or Monk.

I suppose Paragaon comes in a close second, as, once again, they're quite versatile, bringing damage, buffs, healing, and more to the table. Oh, and unlike Rits, there's a reason to play them in PvE.

Necro

Pros: Amazing primary att. Awsome party buffs and support, curses = pure sexy win. And of course MINIONS. Who dosen't want a person around who can bring in 10 extra allies into battle? All that's not to mention they look awsome from the character creation screen on.

Cons: Not as powerful in pvp. Things that deal holy damage and have hex removal really put a wrench into my plans (hate the griffons in the shiverpeaks)

close second are Assassin and Ritualist (yes I <3 factions )

(echoing Mshower is not useful, fyi) Aside from making the turtles easier to keep alive in gyala hatchery(although I'm sure there are better ways of doing it) nothing big springs to mind. Fast Casting is more of a convinence in pve then anything.

Playing a primairy mesmer in pve may not be optimal but its the most fun(for me) and pve isn't near hard enough to choose a less fun but more powerful pve class. I prefer it to SR/Estorage because e-managment is easy and cast times annoy me.

If I had to chose only 2 Characters to play, it would be either a Necromancer or Mesmer and a Ranger.
Ritualists are great fun and versatile, but their primary attribute is useless. So as N/Rt I can do everything a Ritu can and I actually get a benefit from my primary. Same goes for Me/Rt.
Both Necromancer and Mesmer can replace any other caster class and use their primary to great effect (in PvE at least).
For the same reason I'd take the Ranger as physical class: The Ranger can play as Warrior with cheap attack skills and the Ranger can throw spears just as good as the Paragon. Scythe and pet are also a nice combination.

Bottom line: Being a versatile class isn't really about what your class offers on its own. Since everyone can chose a secondary profession, it's more about how well your primary allows you to play any (secondary) style you want to.
