A Year-Round Costume Brawl
Tyrael_Warmage
I know some people hate costume brawl as only during the week of Halloween, but I personally like the idea of a 5 vs 5 battle (bigger than RA) in which the builds are set. It's sort of like a balance between RA and AB. As a casual PvPer, and the mind behind lots of unorthodox builds, it irks me when I play RA only to discover that the team I'm fighting is more of the same cookie cutter meta stuff from last week. I like the idea of an arena where victory banks more on tactics and picking your battles than who can run the latest build on PvXwiki before they nerf the elite.
They can do away with the costumes if they want. They can change the amt of points needed to win. (or make it death match, or win by capping all shrines)The specifics don't bother me much. They can even change the set builds every once and awhile. I just want a place where I can PvP without worrying overly much that my and my team's skill can be outdone by an Assassin with a hammer that started playing last week.
Some might disagree with me, but thats the point of an opinion. After all, no one forces you to Arena Battle. So why not have Costume Brawl (or something similar) year round?

I have to admit the only reason I like costume brawl so much is because im not being moaned at in PVP for daring to use a build that isn't shock frenzy. But what I have found is that people tend to have preconceived ideas about the intelligence of certian professions, E.G all assassins in costume brawl are dumb. This aside I do find costume brawl a much more enjoyable form of pvp with alot less stress from other players.

Costume Brawls are what Hero Battles should have been like all along, ie not having heroes.
I fear it is almost too late for them to do this (they aren't going to take OUT Hero Battles, no matter how much I want it and replace it with something... fun).

If they make separate severs for it, then yes. Currently it's kicking the crap out of the PvP severs.

Holiday Farming is kicking the crap out of everyone's servers, they aren't separated.
Anyway two ways to go with this idea to keep it fresh:
A) New skill bars every month
B) Sealed Deck ATs (they had some kind of in-game integration at PAX 08)
Mix these maps with the HB ones and we got something.
P.S. note that heroes are only half the problem with hero battles - if you could enter this format with whatever build you wanted (especially in an organized team), excess defense would have the edge, people would just sit on shrines without ever killing anything. At least HB you sometimes have assassin humans that can out-gank a hero build, but any half-decent human would be near invulnerable to that.

I just thought of that myself. It's my favorite form of pvp and I do wish it would be around for the entire year.

Would be nice for a bit of variation. Maybe letting you pick one of four characters, or having different builds for male and female characters. Also please, give us better characters. Aiden is ugly.

This. Year-round Costume Brawl? No thanks. Introduction of sealed deck play? Yes. Very yes.

There aren't even that many people playing brawl.

also i have had less lag then i have been getting in the last few months.

I'm pretty sure they are, lag like this isn't experienced during other events which have minigames that haven't been hosted on the "PvP" servers

Year round costume brawl: No. Never. Please don't.
Integrated sealed deck play: I'd orgasm if this was added.

I think CB as it stands would get boring if it were there all year around and would fade back into underuse apart from the sync farmers.
Sealed Decks yes, but I have a feeling they are going to be used in GW2 and the PAX was part of the test of them.
/notsigned for GW1.. hopefully something along the lines for GW2 though.

Anyway this is a circular argument. You are (apparrantly) postulating seperate treatment for the PvP servers, based on some events being laggy and others not. You're further postulating that some pvp minigames get put on the pvp servers and other not based on lag. But if the seperation theory makes any sense at all, then you should see a major difference in general PvE and PvP. I've had major lag spikes and freeze-ups in both all week. I tend to think there is some connection there.

I would like to see something like CB added year round. But I think I'd rather it be 6v6 with random teams.

/not signed. It's a special thing to celebrate Halloween. Plain, pure, and simple.
P.S. When Wintersday comes around and someone thinks that the Snowball fights should be a year-round thing, it's been suggested every year. And it'll get a big /NOT SIGNED from most people and A-Net will not change it.

Year round with build rotations every few weeks would be great. Also put the HB maps in, no reason not to use them IMO. Just 3 maps gets rather stale. Maybe just have all of the holiday events on a rotation, ie Costume brawl one week, Dragon Arena the next, Dodgeball the next, then Rollerbeatle racing. I get the feeling Anet want's to keep it a holiday exclusive event though.
Don't discriminate. 98% of all players playing any class are retarded. But thats not the point of this thread.

Apparently it's better to ask for a sealed deck pvp arena then hang onto CB for the entire year. Maybe someone should post a different thread promoting sealed deck PvP?

Some alarm went off in my head screaming, "PRE-BUILD! OMG NOT PREBUILDS!" Remember them? Healing Hands Wammo? Quickening Rodgort's Ele? Imagine a PvP environment where you HAD to play one of these if you were going to play in it at all. I think it's a cute idea in THEORY. But, let's look at the fact. Anet sucks at making decent builds. The Mesmer build out of the costume brawl sucks just because half the time you're running around capping, making Lysaa pointless. The Necro build sucks having no damage just a bunch of degen and condition control. Come on! Suffering... Jesus. Do we really want THEM in control of our builds? This event sucks. If you like it, great. I hate the hell out of it. Out of all the possible things Anet could have come up with to be FUN, they made a game with a bunch of pre-set builds and capping. Two things I hate. /not-signed.

Take away the costumes and you HAVE sealed deck. It is purely cosmetic. Take away the premade builds and you have Hero Battles with other players.
The same can not be said of any other mini game. Take away the costmetic bettle outfit... and bettle racing is still a racing mini game.
