Req 8 scythes/spears

just wondering if anyone has had one drop or seen one. i've been looking for a req 8 scythe for a while and can't seem to find one.

iirc, Scythes and Spears (NF weapons) never dropped with max dmg @ anything under req 9. I believe that req 8 max weapons stopped dropping before NF was released.
Then again, I could be wrong, but it would explain the trouble you are having in locating them.

Ive gotten a couple blue r8 maxes from NF, but only two shields, no spear or scythes.

It is so uncommon, it is often considered impossible. I have 2 shields that are req 8 and 16 AL with an inscription, one is gold, and one is blue. I have 1 Earth Scroll that is req 8, inscribable, and +12 energy as well. Spear and Scythe, I have not seen yet. I do believe they exist, although I have never seen one.

I havent seen a r8 WEAPON drop in nf/eotn. I have seen offhands and shields drop however.

there are no req 8 scythes/spears that i have seen. so in shortly no.

i personally havent seen req 8 max spear/scythe. i have seen blue req 8 NEAR max, but never max...
by the way, why would you want one? every scythe/spear build that is meant for damage uses at least 10-12 in that weapon mastery anyway
the only builds i can think of are maybe crit spear/scythe, or possibly spirits strength builds. even those use at least 11 in the weapon mastery 9 out of 10 times

r8 weapons do drop in nightfall and eotn
I had an r8 insc ancient longbow drop in the desolation on my first nightfall character. I currently have an r8 inscribe skull shield that I use on my Mo/W. I have sold plenty more shields / off hands / purple and blue r8 max damage weps.
I have not seen anything lower than an r9 scythe, and I don't think I've ever gotten a gold spear drop in countless days of farming.

Spears, Scythes, Staffs, Wands, Hammers, Daggers, Axes and Bows don't have max, req8 inscribable versions.
Swords, Shields and Foci do.

I remember a trustable source confirm a r8 max spear in one of those long discussion threads on this topic, but the closest I've seen (and have) is a 1-off (14-26) r8 insc spear.
I believe Axes, Hammers and Staves should have a minimal chance of dropping r8 max insc. as they could drop r7 before NF (and I've seen 3 staves that dropped r8 post NF, just not insc). It may be just a matter of people not farming mobs of appropriate levels nowhere near as much as they did in the past.
Are you sure it was 15-28 dmg? If you could provide a screenshot it would be awesome - first confirmed under-req bow in the history of gw

However I can't recall seeing any other req8's other than that, inscribables of course. It seems this thread confirms take_me's statement. There are several posts claiming otherwise, but no proof, as in screenshots.
(Check Pleikki's post, with him being a PC mod is of course a reliable source, but unfortunately no screens. And also no confirms on the spear/scythes).
On another note;
Raptor Nestlings drop a fair amount of daggers and bows, there have been plenty of max req8 shields, and even some req8 swords drop reported, if you can get req8 bows/daggers, I'm sure the raptors would have dropped some by now...

i have a storm bow req 7 max but its blue lol not gold other then that gotten max shields from nightfall gold and max but thats it i have seen though blue max req 8 of evwerything but spears

I had one of them. It was blue and I tried to sell it and someone told me it was junk cause it was blue and not gold. So I merch it. I think that it was worth like 27 gold or something. I have been kicking myself ever since. I got it after I made it to the main land not on the first island part of NF.
I was killing groups of raiders getting my title up with the shrine bonus if I remember correctly. To bad it was not gold cause I might have still had it.

That's very interesting because if a white/blue weapontype (not skin!) with a given stats+req exists it means a gold one with the same stats+req is possible too (except for lowest levels that don't drop golds at all). May require different drop_level and be much more rare but is guaranteed to be possible.
So the thing to do is: look at the whites you get! If you get a white max req8 spear or scythe it's a proof a blue/purp/gold can also exist.

I have also never seen one for sale here on the forum, where rare and unusual drops are usually put up for sale to ensure maximum audience.
I suspect, that when NF was launched, Anet wanted to avoid some of the balance issues they have had with other classes in PvP concerning low req weapons (req 7 and 8) by simply not adding any for their two new classes. Another thing, that would seem to support this suspicion, is the fact that they removed max damage req 7's from the drop tables (those req 7's already in the game at the time were left there).
So, in my somewhat educated opinion: req 8, Spears and Scythes do not exist!

the Magmus area is a good place to find there. I got a Req7 GOLD Bow there. The Gold was armor +7 on it NOT THE DAMAGE. The Damage was nasty at like 12-20 or something. So if you farm that area if Prophecies you are bound to eventually get one. I was killed a White mantle to get that drop. I was SO EXCITED until I say the stupid damage
