What PvE multiplayer
Winterclaw
Question, does anyone play PvE with other gamers and not just H/H it? If you do play with others, do you ever pug?
Frankly, I haven't do PvE with others in ages. With the exception of helping someone I knew finish EoTN, the last time I can remember playing with others is pugging to finish the last two missions in NF the first two times I beat it.
Is there anything that can be done to make grouping with real people more attractive than the old Ursan?

No.

yes.
early prophecies missions can still be pugged. so can starter island nighfall and starter island factions. basically the ones that take 4 people in a party.
other missions can be pugged but take a long time to fill up normally

I have one guildie, and one ex guildie who i pve with sometimes. Mainly its h/h.

the only way people would start pugging(beside elite missions like uw or sync stuff like uwsc) is if heros got 99% less damage and healing and enchants and weapon spells last 99% less.

not since 2 years ago.
Avarre
I don't PvE unless someone asks me for help and I like that person.

I did a few of the prophecies missions with people and some of factions, since heroes came out I just used them. Use of players/PUGing is deeeeeead, bring on 7 heroes. |
Game is dead, no one does anything with people unless they're in a huge PvE alliance (lolbad).
Hell Raiser
I still PvE, sure it's mostly with H/H, but I play with my guildies quite often too. But PUGs died a long time ago.
Musei Karasu
I just PUGed Dzagonur Bastion only a few days ago. Most of Nightfall is still PUGable, and I think a good portion of EoTN is still PUGable too.
dilan155
most of my pve is done with h/h but there are some instances where i PUG, those are rare though. the early missions in noob islands can be done with pugs.
Yawgmoth
I only PvE multiplayer... which comes to almost not PvE'ing at all.
I can H/H almost everything but I find that so extremelly boring that I can't get myself to do it. But when I have a chance to play with other people I'm happy to join (except when I clearly see the group is full of fail, obv).
I consider a good centralized LFG mechanism to be the single most important update PvE needs.
Without that people who want to play with others have no way to find each other. There's no single place a person who wants to do "vanquish an area in Tyria" or "do a HM dungeon" could go to find other people. They're sperad around the world, soloing or have quit the game long ago.

The campaign that makes multiplayer team most possible is the very first one, Prophecies. You don't get any heroes there and there are some regions where you may want help to get pass, especially the missions. I see that game as being the most people friendly of all games, not to mention that it's a classic.

Most people have quit PUGs,though theres still quite afew people in EoTN who atleast try to start/find them.
I myself only play pve with other people when its guildies/friends,but heroes are usually easier to work with, soo i prefer those.

At times, if I see someone in town that's absolutely clueless on some easy quest or mission, I'll do it for them out of boredom, and I also get to play a little bit these days with some friends of mine that are becoming slightly reinterested in GW. Unfortunately, those experiences feel for the most part that I'm just doing stuff in a party of 3, 5, 7 and that the other person is just a third wheel or something.
For stuff I actually cared about, like in HM, I did everything on my own, aside from missions such as Eternal Grove or similar missions, and the first few times I vanquished was with some random people I met during a vanquish weekend who, again, mostly came along for the ride.
In PvP, I PuG for just about everything except if I can find someone to sync games with. Even then, I usually meet and play with someone I don't know.
Solution to PuGing: an easily accessible system for advertising and joining guilds. I haven't done anything significant with guilds in my entire history because none of them seemed to clearly state what they did, and I'm sure most of the people joining them had apathetic attitudes towards the guild as well. A system similar to Party Search built specifically for advertising, recruiting for, and joining guilds would allow players to more easily find a guild that suits them, encouraging them to play with players of that guild.
Of course, that's not going to happen, so plan B is to just shoot 90% of the playerbase that has bad ideas on how to play the game and hope that we can get along with the remaining 10%.

Get a better guild I play with humans all the time. Surround yourself with better players and you will H/H less, Slowly working on titles and most everything ive done has been with humans makes the game fun and makes HM even more of a joke with humans compared to the joke it is with H/H. Better players = better groups.

Shortly after Nightfall came out a lot of that went away, and I retired the first time not too long after that. I came back, though, joined a new guild and with my guild leader we H/H Legendary Guardian and MotN. I had a great time, and at least that wasnt full H/H. Some great fun was had to be sure. My favorite thing though is a fully human group, be it a guild group or a PUG group. I havent really any desire to come back now given much of that is gone.
No. Much of the problem now is perception, although possibly also population count. People seem to forget that up through Factions, that was the way the game was largely played - all-human teams, be they PUG or guild groups. Few wish to make that effort anymore. There's been a shift away from team play with humans and I dont see a way back.

if u want to pug with other players, expect the group to be for masters only.

PUG-ing with random people is possible if you have a lot of patience and time on your hands. There are rare occasions where the people are nice , willing to discuss their builds and strategy and are willing to try again if we fail.
Dzjudz
Yes, I pug most of EOTN. The rest not so much.

I pugged my survivor ranger through all three campaigns. Prophecy isn't too bad since the missions aren't too complicated. You see some scary stuff in Factions, but Nightfall usually takes the cake. Some of the most memorable pugging missions are...
Bloodstone Fen
People just keep killing the fooking druids. Explain it to them three times before the mission and on your way there as well as just before you run across the druids. You end up sitting there and watch in frustration as some idiot slowly hacks the druid to death. I had to gather a group just for the bonus three times because people kept killing it.
Riverside Province
People always end up getting split up somehow. I surprisingly have met several people experienced at doing it.
Thunderhead Keep
This one makes me wanna smash my labtop's monitor and karate-chop it in half. Always, about half the team has no idea what's going on and runs off to the gates when it's so much more convenient sticking to the king and letting the Jades duke it out.
Ring of Fire Island Chain
What's Infused?
Factions
Raisu Palace
Just a confusing clusterfook especially when you have to rush over the bridges to get somewhere...
Nightfall
Grand Court of Sebelkeh
"LFR Mission"...

Every now and then I get kinda nostalgic about pugging, and pop into a random mission outpost here and there to do it for teh lulz. Guildies and I call it "PUG Fever."
PUGs were an integral part of my early experience with the game, and I'll admit it's sad to see that particular social aspect slowly disappear from the non-elite areas of the game. A good guild is a great experience in and of itself, but it's not quite the same as throwing caution to the wind and risking it on a bunch of complete strangers. Perhaps I'm masochistic, but I find the experience amusing. I don't even care if we successfully complete the mission or fail it. Sometimes, it's more fun to fail, tbh, or at least to watch other people fail. Sounds horrible, I know, but you haven't truly enjoyed the game till you've completed Iron Mines with 6 melee, a prot monk, and a SMITER...or at least failed it magnificently. (Psssh...who needs elite skillz anyway?!?!)
I'm not always in that mood though, and most of the time I really don't have the patience to deal with the risk and frustration involved with PUGs. Only when the moon's full... >_^

I only rely on other people when I want to be run through a mission (like Ruins of Morah or the fight against the Great Destroyer, both of which are a royal pain to do myself).

I played PvE with Avarre and Queenie the other night. Shit was SO cash.
But yeah other than jumping on to help fellow awesome people with shit, no. I don't think anything can be done to solve the problem other than severely limiting our Hench choices.
YEAH. REMOVE HENCHMEN. THEY ARE KILLING THE GAME.
Heroes are okay though!

I pug with guildies and alliance member every once in a while,, always more enjoyable in the compapgny of others,
But as a full blow random pug....well I stop pugging since I discovert henchies were better at it in most case.....misson came when hero came out.
By then I was already using hero a good chunk of the time, The standart was up for pugs, basic knowledge every one should know since the game as been out for a while, but the actual quality of the players was drop dead.....always 1 or 2 idiots ruinning it for the rest of the player.

I often play with guildies. DVDF is pretty active and there's always at least a few people that join to help and keep you company. I pugged HoS yesterday. Well, it started out as a pug - me joining two ninjas and a derv with heroes. It evolved into a DVDF+3 pugs team upon my "anyone for HoS" question in the AC. The pugs were astounded.
Shasgaliel
I PUG once a while. Playing with other people is still more fun that those predictable h/h. I join often for playing with guild (vanquish, dungeon) just for the fun of it. On the other hand I do not see how to effectively improve pugging possibility or improve pugging experience for a community. I guess the best would be for people to change their expectations and stop forcing others to play their way.
Getting masters in vizunah without a monk and with 8 melee chars is possible! Just be more open and less perfectionist I guess.

I usually stick with guildies, friends or h/h stuff...Rarely pug nowadays. Used to give them the benefit of the doubt, but not anymore ~.~ Bad pugs 80% of time ftl

I only play with people in my alliance, or friends list. Other than that i H/H. It is extremely rare when i even try to PUG just because even with koss running off the map for no reason and dunk standing there scratching his dunkhole and olias spamming death nova on everybody, H/H is still more organized than PUGs
Windf0rce
I think PUGs are fun and I did lots of it when playing my Elementalist through the game. However now that I completed most PvE titles on her, I don't PUG or PvE much anymore - only a few HM dungeons and vanquishes remaining and it is hard to PUG such specific stuff. I'll prob do it with 1 friend and 6 heroes.
I still PUG at Alliance Battles and Heroes Ascent though. It is fun, although at times it can be frustrating.
Once the title rework update comes, I'll see if I will make a new PvE char to play through the campaigns again, and most definitely I'll PUG with him (might not be as effective as heroes but it is more fun and gets the job done).

Fenix.. you can come play with me! :P
Actually, I never pug. The last few times that I did, ended up ending in frustration, so it's just not worth it. I need to know the people that I'm playing with, so I can mention something if their omgsogoodechoflarespammer build is terrible.

i tried pugging yesterday
we failed once and so the wammo changed to healing instead of mashing power attack... after we failed again i just went h/h and mastered in 17 minutes(Raisu Palace).

How the hell did you fail with a mending wammo on your team? You must have been doing something wrong yourself.
Mending wammos are the best tank healers ever.

I don't PUG, and if I do multiplayer it's only with guildees or people on my friends list. I usually H/H.

I eventually become acutely depressed after partying with most people. I use heroes and henchmen most often, sometimes teaming with an experienced guild member.
I would like to think that it is not just rampant stupidity. From my alliance I know that some experienced players are inclined to rush and spoil friends who are new to Guild Wars, resulting in players with elite armor and pro gear who know jack shit about the fundamentals.

Yes and No…I am a busy person pulled away from things so only if things are calm at home and I know I have time to dedicate to a team I will group. I guess I like the challenge of a random group of people with crazy non conforming builds which most have no clue what is going on. I enjoy helping on the harder missions in Factions and Nightfall. I am the Mesmer in a tattered purple outfit and cape that never talks too much and seems to join any group.
