Which guildwars version should I get?

As you know there are three version of guildwars (and one expansion), I am worried if I get the wrong version i will not be able to join in with the majority of the players. Like if I get Factions than i can only pvp mode with other faction players right, and not nightfall or the original, is that true?

Regardless of which campaign you get, you will be able to PvP with all of the other players with few exceptions. Without heroes (obtainable through Nightfall and Eye of the North) you won't have access to the Hero Battles arena.
If you are planning on doing a lot of PvP, I highly recommend purchasing all of the games; choosing skills cross-campaigns will allow you to create a far stronger and more versatile build.
Purchasing the Guild Wars Complete Collection is ideal because all four games are included and you save a lot of money. If you're located in the US, you can instead purchase the Guild Wars Trilogy and purchase Eye of the North separately. You can find it here for $10.

if you buy faction and you PvP youll only be able to access faction skills but you will be playing with players from any and all campaigns. in PvE you will only be able to access faction continent but you will see players from any and all versions of the game.
