I am just having a really hard time vanquishing the Ebon areas. I play a hybrid monk with some Asura skills and I take Sabway heroes. As henchmen I take a fire ele, a prot monk, a warrior and an interrupt. I have vanquished the Norn and Asura areas with this setup and have done most of the dungeons as well. Just can't seem to get through the Ebon areas in HM. Any hints?

I don't have a high Ebon rank yet by the way - only 5 or so.

Use your Ebon Vanguard rank regardless, it helps. For starters, fire eles in HM don't usually do that well, i sometimes run a Mind Blast Hero with utility such as Heal Party and Cure/convert hex(s), but the damage isn't that great.

Try taking the heal hench, with you running Prot, as hench/heroes can't prot appropriate targets, you can (assuming you're not bad.)

SoA, Protective Spirit, both excellent skills to use (assuming you're not using an SY! gon because you're h/h'ing things.)

Try a WoH hybrid bar with the above skills and Seed of Life.

The main worry in Charr areas is that they use their attack skills simoulateously. (sp?), resulting in a form of spike, so just before you agro, ping a target, and prot Devona or whoever you are using up with PS and SoA, then proceed to engage.

Also, try bringing Ebon Battle Standard of Courage. it's +48 armor vs Charr, this is a helluva lot, especially combined with your Ebon Vanguard title.

Maybe:

Word of Healing
Patient Spirit
Dwayna's Kiss
Seed of Life
Protective Spirit
Shield of Absorption
Ebon Battle Standard of Courage
Res Chant. (Or Glyph of Lesser Energy)

Healing Prayers: 12+1+1
Protection Prayers: 9
Divine Favour: 9+1

Hope this helps.

Use the build above with the glyph of lesser energy version, and drop patient or SoA for Aegis.
Oh,and use an earth ele instead of fire.

With h/h I just ran a standard sabway setup for two of the three areas. Having a designated person (I used a ranger hench) to pull aggro can help against the balanced char groups. Prot them up and have them pull aggro to save yourself from having monk heart attacks hit your whole group.

For Grothmar, there is a seige devourer you can mount not too far from Longeye's. Head east across the little bridge and north a bit. The group surrounding it can be tough but getting this early on will make this area incredibly easy.

I believe there is another devourer in Dalada which is a bit tougher to obtain. It's somewhere near where Rocktail spawns and you may have to deal with him first if I remember correctly.

Sacnoth imo was the hardest of the three only because of the burning forest area. I had a guildie bring a winter ranger and lots of interupts. Frozen Soil can also help later with the Dark Priests in the large groups of grawl.

i just tried vanquishing dalada uplands, got to 300 kills and couldnt complete the area couldnt find anymore enemies anywhere what a waste of two hours. my second attempt ever at vanquishing and ive decided to quit because im not wasting time with a bugs

/edit. sorry for rant! i farm ebon points in HM in sacnoth and used to find it hard, just get the ebon vanguard skills and its extremely easy: Ebon Battle Standard of Courage, Ebon Battle Standard of Honor and Ebon Vanguard Sniper Support. that sniper support has to be my favourite pve skill in the game, especially with those Enemy at the Gates quotes that pop up when you kill with it!!!

Take the earth hench over fire hench, Sandstorm has more utility than Mind Blast, and Ward vs Elements is good in EotN. Next, visit each consumable trader, and pick up some of each. Transforming your party into hardmode mobs for half an hour should allow you to wack the problem mobs of whatever zone is giving you difficulty.

Make sure you synergise your heroes build with your own, if you're a monk/rit/paragon and are running meta for these character then you should put a bit more offense in your heroes to compensate as you should be able to keep them on their feet whilst they destroy the enemy.

To maximise their usefulness make sure theyre runed and have decent weapons, it really helps.

If you're having real trouble take a couple of consets, they make PvE a walk in the park. But with careful pulling, effective use of heros and good hero builds/setups then no area should pose too much of a problem. Failing that I imagine their will be a fair few people looking to vanquish areas around there atm, try asking in towns.
