Do you need to have daggers equipped for Vampiric Assault? Ive searched about 5-6 times now, with slightly different terms, checked wiki, cant find out. Im thinking of a Dervish assassin, and using Dancing Daggers->Mantis Touch->Vampiric Assault as a partial build(not sure about derv skills yet). This is going to be pve only, and Im not worried that its not the most effective build I could get.

If you read the skill description, it answers it for you with the first 2 words.

Dual Attack

Dual Attacks as well as Lead Attacks and Off-hand Attacks always require daggers. The closest you can come to an exception to this is a skill like Dancing Daggers which states it "counts as a lead attack." Since Dancing Daggers is a spell, and you are using this as a D/A, I assume you want to use a Scythe. This won't work with Vampiric Assault.

Dilan, I wasnt asking if I needed vamp daggers.

MagmaRed, that actually raised my suspicions, but I wasnt 100% on it.

So now my ideas totally shot to hell, and Ill have to spend another couple hours trying to find something that seems workable(got second profeesion quest @ about noon, now almost 4pm ).

nono dont delete, just play throught the game with ur old build. You are never stuck with the same secondary. There is a point in the game where you can change it to whatever you want for gold the first time and then for free every time after that. If you find that you dont like a secondary, just play around with it. Look up some builds to play around with on pvxwiki, or make your own.

Assassin dervish with a critical scythe build is one of the most fun things to play in PvE.

Something like this is great.

Generally I've found that dervish as a primary is boring and way too common.

I dont even have a build yet, so thats not a problem yet. I kinda think I'd know that already, seeing as how Im approachin my 3rd year in the game, and have about a dozen level 20 characters already.

Didnt click link. If I get something similar, its coincidence. I vastly prefer to come up with builds on my own. Also, you're going to have to tell me what you find "fun", as I've seen, in online games I play, that there are many different kinds of fun. Pfft. Dont care if its common, because Ive always intended, from day one, to have at least one character of every type.

Its basically just a build that lets you do a ton of damage with critical strikes to up to 3 targets at a time while having as much armor as a warrior and increased attack speed, it owns. The thing about dervishes is that most people play them like warriors and just end up doing less damage and getting killed a lot because they have less armor, which is fine if you like that sort of thing. Also all of their armor looks the same, a big gay dress and a hood.

Not even gonna start on the "big gay dress" thing, except to say, look up Japanese and Samoan cultures, to start, and that my character is female.

I dont really care about how the armor looks, Im more concerned with the abilities it has. Also, armors not everything, there's ways to play low armor characters without needing to get them more armor than normal.

Im just going to try mesmer, to start, see how it goes. If it doesnt work out as well as Id like, Ill try something else. Thanks for all the help.
