Upon buying gw factions i found it funny that canthan being based on chinese orgin has a mix of japanese and chinese names. Im just wondering did they just oversee this?

They probably said "Japanese look just like Chinese people, so lets just add them in. People won't be able to tell the difference." Or they didn't want the Japanese to be left out. Who knows.

Y'know, that's exactly what a guy in my school says all the time.

I feel left out as a mexican, though.

I know what you mean lol. I'm not Mexican Japanese or Chinese. But people end up saying I look like someone that's 1ft taller and weighs like 50 pounds more just because we have the same ethnicity lol. But when people mistake me for some people. I'm just like damn dude I don't even look close lol.

I doubt it was oversight. Factions is not based on the chinese in particular, its an asian theme. Much like Nightfall is a north african theme.

So they could create and mix anything they wanted to make the end product.

It's not a "mistake" but intentional. Cantha is based on all of Asian culture, not just a specific part, just like how Phrophecies isn't strickly medieval european and and NF isn't just one party of Africa/Middle East.
For example, Naga (Hindu), Hopping Vampires (Chinese), Oni (Japanese).

Slightly true. Cantha has more then just Asian culture. Luxons and Kurzick have some european (mainly German and Greek) references in them too.

And you left out the Tengu. (Also see here).

Its not meant to just be chinese or japanese,as said above.

Really not sure why they decided that chinese and japanese names in one place was cool, but hey..its Anet the people who decided that ursan would be cool.

Ah i see, to me the whole area of cantha seemed more like a chinese theme then a japanese thing. Makes sense now.
