Zaishen Chest?

Is it worth paying 5k for a Zaishen Key to open the Chest? I am talking in terms of profit, not the Title. How much chance do I have of getting an item over 5k?

Low in my experience.

Remember that ArenaNet didn't set a price for the Zaishen key, the player community did.

nope, if you got lots of money and can afford thousands of them OR your very goddamn lucky your not gonna return any profit. should you be able to buy that many then there is a slightly small chance youll get something worth your money.

I have used over 300 keys,i have gotten two drops over 5k.
R10 command amethyst aegis(before vs farm,when they were worth somthing)
and a r10 moti dragonic aegis.
Most every thing else was really bad golds or firewater.

Unless you have too much money, or simply don't know what to do with it, open the chest.
If you are trying to make more money, the ZChest is not your way to go.

Of course there are people who get lucky, use 1 key and get an Everlasting or a Crystalline, but that chance is lower than 1%... so my advice is: don't do it^^

I've used 350 keys and the only thing valuable that i have gotten is a R9 Mursaat hammer. You don't sound like the person with loads and loads of money, so i would say don't waste your money on the keys, because you will most likely lose a lot.

I have to agree, Z keys for profit? No.

I usually will run my ranger through and get 5k balt factions and trade them for keys as well as take guesses, I'd say I've traded around 200 keys maybe? and have gotten just a few items.

money wise, buying a key isn't worth it the odds are not good on great drops, and most times you do wind up with creme brule and firewater (wish they would take that crap OUT!!!)

Overall, since I don't buy the keys I don't mind but I usually wind up ID'ing then salvaging the item, somtimes I will get a good mod, but usually its garbage drops.

I don't do it for the drops I do it for the title.

I'm probably a rare case, but when i was going for rank1 i got an everlasting trapdoor tonic and sold it for 2 armbraces+60e. So i actually made a huge profit, but no more z-keys for me i'm done lol.

Zkeys for profit? Yes! That is if your selling them... Oh wait, you want the chest, nvm don't bother. The drop rate for anything valuable is ridiculously low, save your cash, and instead of buying them, get them trough balthazar factions and sell them, it's a good money maker there. The chest, isn't.

I'm more than likely an incredibly rare case... I've made more than lost from the chest. All in this last month too, as I got incredibly lucky and landed two Everlasting Skeletonics and today a Celestial Compass. Still, by the time I get to r3, I bet I will have negated all profit.

Zaishen Chest is an incredibly fun thing to do when you're done or mostly done with the "money-spending" phase of character development. I'm almost completely done gathering everything I need/want, so money is a bit of a side issue now. If you're still needing to get some elite armors or wanting some prestigious weapons, I don't suggest it.

Analogy:

If you can make money to pay your monthly bills (food, electric, phone, gas, insurance, etc.) by playing the lottery, then you can make money in GW by buying Z-keys.

I'm at r3 zaishen, and the best thing I ever got out of the chest was a beetle tonic, which is what, 3k? Most of the items I got were worth less than 500g.

I'm Zaishen Rank 6 with 1,382 keys used. I estimate the value of a key to be about 1,000 - 1,500 gold.

You'll have better luck just selling the keys, trust me.
