Ecto Farming = My New Drug?

So I was watching the TV show House the other night and on the episode two of the doctors had to go buy drugs to see if they were laced with anything. After buying the drugs one of the doctors tasted it, turned around and asked for the lesser quality drugs, not the good stuff used to get the customers hooked.

Something similar to this happened to me with ecto farming in the UW. I recently decided to make a Sin and get him to the point that I could farm in the UW. After a lot of trial and error, I finally made it to the Choas Plains and started farming. My first run I got 6 ecto, not too bad. My second run I got 10 ecto and 12 gold weapon drops, I was amazed. For the next 5 runs I got between 6-8 ecto. I was so excited about how easy this was. I started telling all my guild members about it. I bought a lot of sweet stuff, then after buying everything, I went to do another run and got 2 ecto. The next run 3 ecto. Since then, my best run is 5 ecto with only 4 gold weapon drops.

I think ANET set me up to get addicted, then once they felt I may be addicted they started feeding me the lesser quality drops.

Now I know the drop rate is totally random and I am not complaining. Nor am I trying to say that I am addicted to farming, in fact I rarely ever farm anymore. I am just pointing out a situation which I think is funny.

In the end, I still will farm the UW when I need money.

Or it might be the anti-farming code kicking in after you performed the same run several times in a short period of time?

why is it so hard NOT to farm them?

Flubber, thanks for the warning, it is hard, lol. I have recently stopped farming for the most part, but when I do farm I do head to the UW. To add a small side note, when I do farm it is because I enjoy it, however the fun is running somewhat dry for me right now, so I have moved onto other things in the game. Although I do still farm on occasion.

Ectos are fun for the short run, after the inital burst of seeing 5k drop instantly, it gets pretty dulll. Oh yay, another ecto.

Do you really think you're addicted? Farming ecto cannot be compared to a drug addiction, wow.

Wow, me and my friend where on vent discussing this about a two days ago. I haven't farmed enough to see this. But when I farmed raptors, I got like 15 golds in an hour. I'm still pretty new to the game but that is pretty good.

It's actually like that for me too. I raptor farm, everytime when I go in for the first time in like 4 days I get 4 golds and a crap load of drops. Immediately go in again, 2 golds and less drops, then 2 purples, 1 purple, junk....WTF

Yes, I farm in HM. I think it is pretty fun and a nice change to raptor farming. I would still recommend it as a good farming spot.

In the time it takes you to do a chaos plains run u should consider do UWSC 25-30 min runs u get 1-2e from chest + golds with a chance of getting a voltaic or eternal blade wich in the long run will yield more gold than those meaningless farming runs and trust me it gets uber boring after the first 50-60 runs.
