Problems installing game help plz

When i stick the disc into my computer (I used to play, I have like a necromancer, monk, assassin, ranger, warrior, and probably more) it gets to the "Connecting to Arennet" screen...the bar goes all across the bottom...then it freezes and nothing happens and I wait for a very long time and it doesn't do anything but sit there with the same length progress bar all the way across saying "connecting to arenanet".

What should I do?

Check your firewall settings and give it time.

Moved to Software

Had this happen a few times with programs on my system and most of the time its my firewall.

I dont see the message because its hidden by the game startup window.

If it appears to lock up in this way even when you wait a while, try ctrl alt delete to start task manager.

This closes the game window to the task bar and opens a box to shut down aplications processes etc.

At this point I can see my firewall warning and allow the program to connect to the internet.
I then cancel the task manager and return to the game which usually then continues its startup.
