Actually, it would be kind of fun to start over fresh - IF you could really start over fresh. The problem is, there would be people (Guildies, etc.) who would give me everything I would need. It would basically be the same as starting a new character now. One thing I like about GW2 is that it will be a fresh start.

So, really, I don't know. I've thought of starting a new character, but ... nah..

I would pretty much become a PvPer only if that were to happen, instead of the 50/50 I am now.

But chances are that would open the door for me to head out to a new game.

You made me think.

Honestly I doubt it. A lot of my guildies don't even get on anymore, so if I had to start from scratch without people to keep me entertained, I think I'd be done. Especially assuming that I wouldn't even have things to carry over to GW2. I'd probably just sit and wait for it to come out, hear reviews and friends talk, then decide to start that game.

this actually happened to me and i continued to play. i seriously thought about quitting, but after a few days of having nothing to do, i picked it back up again and am still having fun. luckily, none of my characters got deleted or anything but all 8 of my characters had all their sup vigors salvaged off of thier armors and a couple of them had all their vabbian armor salvaged altogether. i also lost a lot of uncustomized weapons and shields. once you know what to do, getting that money back isn't that difficult, the weapons are a different matter, though, depending on what they were.

i was actually faced with this question a few weeks back.

guild wars has been an amazing game. playing from the start, seeing the changes (both good and bad), memories with friends, and playing my first "mmorpg" was just an amazing experience. guild wars is a great game, but no, I would not come back. As someone previously said, it would open the gate to find a new game.

i think that the fact that the game is not new is the one driving reason behind this. seeing the northern shiverpeaks for the first time was a great experience for me. dealing with those big lvl9 char and my lvl6 w/e with meteor shower just awesome. but again, nothing is new, everything has been seen, and no, i would not start back.

excellent post by the way. it has been a real long time since i have seen one of these come through.

Yes, I would start again. I am not into vanity items or titles or anything like that. I just enjoy playing the game every now and them. So, even if I lost everything, I wouldn't really lose anything at all

I play GW because it's fun and I enjoy it. If everything were gone, including characters the game would still be a great passtime, especially for people in my type of situation. I start the game, play for a bit, back up into a safe spot without having to worry about respawns or walking back to town, go help with homework, play for a bit, go fix dinner... GW isn't just for hardcore players, it's also for people who just want a few minutes of relaxation, gameplay and socializing.

Yes, I'd start over. It's fun.

I couldn't come back if I lost everything. Too much work put into my chars to do it all over again. Sure I could farm the shit out of some areas, grind hard for titles and armor. But I did it once, sure as hell ain't doing it again.

On the case of losing gold, flashy weapons, and armor...Still no. I'm not going to farm 900k+ to make up for like over 15 sets of elite armor -.-

I was originally more interested in the storyline than in making money. So I played through very casually in terms of speed, doing all quests that I could find.

If I had to restart, I wouldn't have anything to work for. I know the story quite well for all chapters, and I don't think I could bring myself to farm to regain the shiny things I have already. Not to mention the loss of titles and characters (several characters have had third year birthdays, wouldn't want to restart that).

So if it was just my gold and items that were removed, I'd probably restore my main characters. But if those characters were deleted, I don't think I'd restart.

Or so they say in PCgamer and Blizzard already had a beta in S.Korea last year, for the Pro-Gamers, of course. But nonetheless, SC2 is "dated"(there is no guarantees) to be out this December, and around Christmas, I think.

I would just to make my names back up and reserve if I play GW2 and maybe to play around.I don't know if I would go as far all through three camps plus addon. Then there is the though of if my guild being disbanded if this did happen I would probably join another one and get them to help me out.

So long as I still had all my stuff on all my current characters, I would certainly start a new toon without relying on anything I've already earned.

My primary character is less than a month away from KOABD r4. As a warrior, she has a fully equipped set of every Warrior and common armor (EOTN hats and gloves) in the game and I have 9 or 10 PVP characters completely dedicated to the organization of her stuff. I've used this character to acheive whatever goal struck my fancy and I have been very successful with her.

This time I would do things differently. I wouldn't worry about getting the best of everything. I would start the game and rely only on drops and collector items and my own wit to progress instead of buying my way through some things such as drok runs for max armor and buying perfect mods from other players to build a great weapon. And I'd do the entire game with only hench and heroes.

I dont think I would be able to stand starting over. Would shift to 100% PvP (which I mostly do anyways) and simply play other games more. I am guilty of wanting things done too fast, and I don't take the time to enjoy PvE much anymore, so I think restarting would feel too much like a chore.

I'd probably stop playing for a while, decide if I want to keep my older chars for presents or remake them so I can get survivor on them, and then start playing again.

It wouldn't be the first time I've started over in a game. I still re-install Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights every few years. I've restarted Morrowind twice.

Maybe because I don't buy the expensive items for any of my characters (except for elite armor), I don't have much to lose. Starting over from scratch would be reliving the experience without the lack of knowledge. So I think I would enjoy it more.

yeah, LDoA is the best title in the game. So Kewl to be running around with 250,000 deaths and a title to prove it! I only have 10,000 hours death leveling to go. WOOT

OP, don't worry about wondering whether to delete characters and starting over. I did it about half a year ago because I was getting bored and i really liked GW when I started out. So..... I deleted the crap out of every character, I distrubuted my money and cleared my storage. From then on I started from scratch again, and I wouldn't change a thing. I might even do it again soon.

Electric this was never about deleting anything lol. I started this post to see whether people were at a place in the game where it simply wasnt worth the effort to re-run chars to the place they lost them at. IE wealth titles gear etc. and after reading all the posts, id say about 80% just wouldnt have the excitement and drive to do it all over again.

I have read soooo many posts about the jump the shark moment in GW and whether the game is broken etc. One common theme in all those posts is they never address whether people really are stickin with it because they still love the game OR they feel obligated to themselves because of the MASSIVE and i mean MASSIVE amount of time invested in GW.

Its easy to speculate how the game should be different and the difference it would make to each of us but this post kinda proves GW is now about maintaining what weve accomplished. those new players have all the vigor and spark that drove each of us to our first goals and benchmarks. Those of us who have been here since the start are simply piling on for the sake of piling on (wealth loot etc). can anyone really say they get all amped up for anything besides maybe weekend events (x mas)?

Im not making blanket statements on any group im simply saying that looking at all the posts on this thread leads me to the conclusion that this game has reached its shelf life.

I think you're right about GW reaching its shelf life. However, it isn't the case for me. I've played guildwars for about 32 months now, but I haven't really done a whole lot in terms of story lines in the game. I haven't even beaten factions. I'm one of those people that avoids beating a game for fear of it becoming boring afterwards. But back to the point. For other people, I think this game is at its end for the most part.
