In-guild ranking/banking/merchants

Guilds should have ranks. Something more than just Founder, Officer, and Member. Most guilds give officer away too freely, and risk having a bad officer get in and kick all the members, setting stupid guild messages, etc...

For instance:

Rank 1: Founder (can recruit, kick, promote lieutenants to general, demote, set guild msgs, edit cape etc)
Rank 2: Generals (can recruit, kick, promote sergeants to lieutenant, demote)
Rank 3: Lieutenants (can recruit, promote recruits to sergeant)
Rank 4: Sergeants (can recruit)
Rank 5: Recruits (can't do jack but talk in team chat)

--------------------
Banking (well sort of)

Guilds should be able to set up a "guild bank" of sorts. Guild members can be *forced* to pay a certain monthly gold amount to the bank. This can be broken down by rank, with the higher ranking members paying in more every month, etc.......the amounts should be up to the guild founder only. Also, no money is TAKEN directly from members accounts, but it is merely a "Pay Dues of XXXXXX" button in the guild window. The guild founder should be able to see which members have not paid dues.

Where the money goes: It's very important that once the money is in this "bank" it cannot be taken out for personal use by anyone, only "guild use".

Guild Uses for Guild bank money:

Buying merchants for guild hall
Changing guild hall
Customizing guild cape
Guild Invitations
Guild Hall Guest Invites
Renting outposts*

* Outposts should be up for rent weekly (by auction). The benefits being the same as the current benefits for owning outposts in factions with one huge addition: A Guild Merchant

A guild merchant is a merchant that sells items belonging to members of the guild that owns the outpost. Of course there would be a limit of 20 or so items at a time and they'd have to be submitted by Generals or higher. A percentage of the proceeds go to the Guild Bank, with the rest going to "merchant fees".

Oh well, just some ideas i thought i'd braindump.

i really like the idea of the Guild hierarchy. It would probably help me build up my guild to more than a dozen active members.

I like a guild heirachy, however the guild "rent" idea is horrible. If a guild charges participation then everyone should gtfo fast.

Instead of moving to another system of specific rankings, it'd be nice if the Leader > Officer > Member system was used as a base for a customizable system that would allow Guild Leaders to make different levels of authority and give them different levels of power as seen fit.

Contrary to everyone else, I like the banking idea, as you stated that it doesn't really have to be a manditory system, and it could just be an easier way of keeping track of certain things.

The outpost idea is cool too, although I don't see the purpose or use of the Guild Merchant.

I would like a bulletin board in the GH where all members can post messages. Officers can edit the messages. I'd like to use the bulletin board to arrange groups in advance to do missions, vanquishing etcetera. It's better than to log in Saturday morning and just hope that you can find guildies to play with...

So actually you want a guild to have.... a forum?

You know you can access your guild website on wiki directly from gw and all your guild members can post there if they have a proper rights?

@OP

I think it will be nice for the big guilds. But I think for this system to be really shining guilds should be much bigger than current 100 people limit.

i should have to pay?! i'm sorry but no. i worked for my money and if i was sure they the leaders would pay me back then i would pay. you force people to pay for items only to have guild die shortly after. or as some mean people do sell it out to some one for cheap and leaving the clueless members in the dust pennyless. i joined a guild to make friends and have fun not slave for them to get them money.

/signed for additional "ranks" It would come in handy for multi-gaming guilds like mine and would allow for some versatility in the GW Guild's structure.

/notsigned for banking system. I'd never want to have to pay dues & would never force my guild mates to pay them. If it's a question of equiping the GH with the various NPCs, asking for donations should cover it.

Not arguing with you, but 2 points. 1) They don't "get the money", it goes to the guild and cannot be used for personal purchases....only very specific guild purchases, such as merchants for the guild hall, etc. 2) The guild leader can set the amounts.........if they want to set it at zero, then there are no dues.

So you can always either A) Not join a guild that charges dues, B) Leave a guild that decides to charge dues (without paying past due amounts), or C) voluntarily pay your dues for the benefit of the guild......as in for merchants, outposts, better guild halls, etc etc etc.

yes because people need more ways to show off there e-pen in game. Also you could just do wut we do and that is just promote everyone to officer so then only the leader can kick people. it also helps with getting people invitees and guest invites for when were doing pvp.

Just like most said, /signed for Guild Ranking and /notsigned for the bank thing. It's a great idea for having a guild bank, but forcing members to pay every X amount of time is a horrible idea. Guild ranking would help because it's hard to tell who is co-leader and such unless you've been told by another player in the guild. It's much easier to just hit G in-game and look for yourself.

it would be very interesting to progress the guild ranking pass the 3 general lvls. current system is very simplistic. guild bank would also be cool for purchasing the current upgrades available for guild halls. this way anyone that wants to contribute can. i don't know about the outpost rentals though, little too much. prices for the towns would probably be too high; tons of guilds would want to own towns and there is only a small number available relative to the number of guilds
