Mash Legend
u get an account code with the game, and it can only b used once. so no u wont unless u get the email and password of the person u got the game from.
Heapey
ok thanks so in order to get onto guild wars i will need the email and password from that person.

Two problems here.
1. ArenaNet does not allow the transfer of an account to a new owner. Thus there is no method for changing the login email address. Attempting to transfer an account will result in the account being perma blocked.
2. If the original owner changes their mind, they can complain to ArenaNet that you hacked the account and get it back. The person with the most knowledge of the account info and proofs of purchase keeps the game.

Actually, you can change the e-mail of the login, I just did it from an old e-mail I used 3 years ago when I played to my new e-mail, all it requires is that you are able to access your old e-mail and verify that. In the case of the e-mail no longer being functional it requires password verification and possibly a security question (did this like 3 months ago, so I am a little foggy on it now, not to mention its 5am and I've been up nearly 36 hours).
After you do that, all updates are sent to the new e-mail, including attempts to retrieve the password. I believe you can change the password and the security question as well (don't quote me on that).
A.net is too lazy to handle account affairs, over 5 of my alliance-mates have been hacked in the last couple of weeks and stripped of everything and A.net refuses to do anything about their accounts. Anything worth doing is worth doing half-assed, isn't that A.net's motto?

This seems like an awful lot of trouble to save a few bucks on a pre owned game doesnt it? Suck it up, buy a new one-they're not THAT expensive-and have your own brandy-new copy of the game.

You can get the GW Trilogy (all 3 campaigns) for only $27.90 (plus S&H) this weekend from GoGamer.com. Even regular price there or elsewhere it runs from $38 to $47. Or the Complete Collection (over in Europe) for around £25.
Why would anyone even mess with a pre-owned copy (and possible ban) when they could have a completely legit version. Plus it comes with all the GoTY 2008 goodies.

1) Buying a used account equals begging to be hacked/scammed.
2) MiraBlackhand: if so many people around you get hacked, the culprit is probably in your alliance and you should be more careful about what you use for password and/or helper apps.

@Mira - to the best of my knowledge, you can change the CONTACT email address, but not the LOGIN email address. One of the two must be a valid address for an active account.
Changing the LOGIN email address is changing the ownership of the account and is not allowed.

Stupid Shizno
you can change the login email as many times as you like. you just need access to the orginal email and verify the gw email that you want to change the login email.
how else do you think accounts get sold? if you dont know, dont say anything, we dont need 100 posts of numbnuts saying "well i think, as far as i know" spend 5 mins wiki the answer then post.
gw community is getting dumber each day

one code= one account, pre-owned= code used, therefore you cant use a preowned code.

Maybe you should try reading the wiki yourself, especially this part:

Can I change the email address that I used to register my account? Currently, you cannot change that email address once you have registered. As such, it is advisable that you do not use that email address for daily correspondence, to keep it less known. As a safety measure, change your password regularly and use long and complex passwords. For special circumstances (such as that email becoming inactive or inaccessible), consider contacting Support. |

There are plenty of things that have not been edited on the guild wars wiki, I know for a fact I changed it from an old [email protected] e-mail to my current [email protected] e-mail and use that as my current login. Try it before relying on GW's half arsed team.

But buying someone else's account is against the EULA and that account can be banned. Furthermore, anet will not help you if you have bought a used account. It takes access keys to prove you own the account. But the price of games now it's just not worth it to buy a used account when you can spend about the same or less to get a new copy. And now that theres the Guild Wars Complete Collection ( for euro's) or the Guild Wars Trilogy (Americans) those are lot cheaper and safer than buying used accounts.
imnotyourmother
You must be able to change your e-mail address in case something happens like a Divorce and the courts order you to hand over your guild wars account to your spouse as the courts ordered. After all its 50/50 right??

well if you ask me its kinda stupid beacause ebay e.t.c allow people to sell them so....
BabyJ
Just because there is accounts being sold on ebay doesn't mean it's not against the EULA. And I'm pretty sure the only way they are being sold on ebay is because they state in the description that they are only selling the email and password to the account because Anet actually owns the stuff that comes with the account. The email (log in) can be change IF it's not connected to a playNC account. If you want to take a chance and buy an account on ebay, go for it, if it comes with the account log in info (once the keys are use they can not be usesd again). But just realize that there is a slim chance that the person you buy it from can contact anet and use the code keys and get the account back. Not to mention that there is a slim chance the account can be banned because it IS against the EULA to transfer (sell) accounts.
Personally, I would rather buy the actual game then to take a chance like that. If you look here I just bought this myself and it's alot cheaper and less of a chance of loosing the account. Theres only 10 hours left for that sell price so if you order now you can get it cheap. I ordered my copy about 4 days ago and got the lowest shipping ($2.99) and got it today. So I got all 3 games shipped to me for $30.58. It's really up to you if you would rather buy an account from ebay but you also have to consider the risks involved with doing so.
