You can copy the whole gw folder and just run gw.exe. The game will then automatically place a few registry keys, shortcuts etc and run. No need to redownload anything.
You can also run gw off an external drive like this, allowing you to run it on any pc.

Thanks for the replies, but I cant seem to find my Gw.dat file. I know its there somewhere, because it lists it when I hover the GW folder, and I've got gw open now.
Any tips on finding it?

The gw.dat file is usually in the Guild Wars folder in Program Files. The path is usually C:\\Program Files\Guild Wars
If you are running Vista, Vista will also make a folder called Guild Wars, in your Documents folder, but that folder will only contains Screenshots and Templates. It's the folder in Program Files you want.
If you are looking in the right place, then maybe for some reason, the file is "hidden", but it must be there.

Some versions of Windows hide file extensions. That's one of the first "features" I disabled. Hidden file extensions is the default setting in XP. No idea if that was carried over to Vista. The .dat file will be the largest file, approximately 3-4GB.

Yes the default hide file extensions and hide system folders etc did carry on into Vista.
When your in explorer to the left of the view button is organise
click there and either in layout or just under it will be folder and search options.
That's where you need to go to show file extensions.
