i kinda wanna make a channeling nuker/spiker. i was thinking along the lines of..

Destructive was glaive
spirit rift
Ancestors rage
essence strike
(good channeling spirit or vampirism)
unknown
res

channeled strike or renewing surge?
i can't decide which one to take. what do you think is better and what do you suggest for my build?

Both kinda suck but RS is worse than flare spam. Toss in Splinter why don't ya'?

[Splinter Weapon] is Gud, buff your frontliners with it and spam [ancestors rage] on 'em while you're at it. [Destructive Was Glaive] Is kind of bad, i'd recommend taking something else. But, that's just my two cents.

Take out DwG, put in OoS. Replace Essence Strike with PI or warmongers if you need it.

ty guys i like you advise i never thought of RS as an alternate to flare spam. put it that way it sucks

Altough I like the idea of [[Destructive was glaive] I never manged to make a good build with it, it's just to much time too keep up, too expensive, and gives too little damage.

Ok, sorry for the double post and res and such but I've got to ask. I've been seeing [Channeled [email protected]] pop into more builds as of late and I can't see why. Sure, it has easy synergy between itself and [Destructive was [email protected]] but the two sec cast time just kills it imo and the only way past that (AFAIK) is [mindbender]. So, besides the synergy and added damage from it, why do people run this skill that's dying to be hit by the likes of [Distracting Shot], [Distracting Blow] and [Distracting Strike]?

AIs can interrupt 1/4th casts anyway so, I'm not seeing why the cast time is relevant there.

Strike has these going for it:

A) Compresses damage better when followed up with caretaker's. But that's generally for PvP where spikes matter.

B) Doesn't recharge forever if you have to cast it without a pot. (Seems rarely relevant in PvE.)

C) Better time compression. Surge may only take 1s to cast, but it as 3/4ths aftercast. So it really takes 3.5 seconds to do the same damage you can do in 2.75 seconds with strike. Now if you're say a flagger with nothing better to do with your energy, spam spam isn't a bad idea. But if splinter or caretakers is going off every 4-5s, then the time compression is useful.

[Destructive Was Glaive] is buffed now.
I use it a lot. Combo [spirit rift] then cast[channeled strike]
If your target hasn't moved it will do some nice seconds in 2 seconds. Setting it up takes 4 seconds.
Works great @ AB.
Use RT/Me for energy.

Channeled Strike. Renewing surge blows. It really is the Rit flare spam.

You can argue that Channeled Strike is asking to get interrupted, but if you're spamming RS, what makes you think that a half decent mesmer or ranger won't pwn you anyway?

I could never really make DwG work in any bar, it looks real nice on paper but in reality you sacrifice too much survivablity to run it. 10% is almost nothing buff it to 25% to be in line with air magic and now were talking.

Looks really pretty when you drop it though
