Inappropriate name

Hi all, I had a decent monk Char, named Ho Li Crap, it was my 2nd char, and the name reads funny in the narratives. I didn't realize that someone would take offense to this. My account is suspended (72 hours),and I am wondering if the character will be wiped out or will I be allowed to rename?
Is there an appeal process, or something I can do about saving the char?

don't underestimate the anal-ness GW community, i wouldn't have reported that name, but there are cruel people who do it just so someones account will get suspended

Speaking as one of the less tolerant people around here when it comes to what constitutes an offensive name, I would NOT have reported that name.

Rename it to Ho Li Carp.

I think that's an amusing name (and personally I don't think the original was report-worthy), but I wonder if ArenaNet will re-check the character's name after a rename -- and if it's too close to the original, will they ban?

Whoever reported that name needs to be /report(ed) for Idiocy.

I don't find it offensive at all.

I am guessing its the words Holy and Crap together rather than anything else.
But you would have to be very narrow minded to take any offense.

It never fails. Someone starts a 'I did a stupid thing' ( Ho li is funny tho :P )
and someone else has to prove they are way more stupid, and a bigot to boot.

Actually the problem may have been Anet's chat filter. There are 3 levels to the filter, none, normal and high. The default is normal which filters most swear words like the F bomb. Some folks prefer no filter which of course sensors nothing, but then there is the "high" setting. It's perfect for parents that let small kids play along with them and it blocks almost every word that could be considered offensive.

On the high setting "crap", "sucks" and other minor crude terms are filtered. It's possible that someone saw your character name as Ho Li ---- and assumed the ---- was worst than it really was.

Kinda makes you wonder why the word is allowed in a character name in the first place though if it's deemed bannable. If you really want to keep the name you can try an appeal. It probably won't work, but it's worth a shot.

This is NOT true. Customized items are linked to the Character, not the name.

Actually it might not have been the crap that got you suspended, perhaps someone did not like the other meaning of ho in your name

The word Vagina can be used in a toon name but to a person with chat filter on your name looks like ------.

You'll be allowed to change that char's name once your 72 hour ban is lifted. No need to go contacting Support or do anything else.

Dude. That really sucks. I'd have laughed if I saw that in game. Not at you personally, but with you at the name. It was clever. Sorry you were banned.
