We can open our storage and then walk away yet still interact with it. It would be pretty useful if we could open dialog with the Merchant or Rune trader or whatever and be able to walk away (maybe to open storage) and still purchase/sell/trade without needing to go back to that particular NPC.

I actually like this idea, the other day I wasted way too many charr hides and grawl necklaces in belt pouchs/booze instead of fur/party stuff, 'till I realized I was doing it wrong.

1) GH
2) Better things to do with their time
3) Meh, storage you need access to when at merch/trader etc to withdraw ur gold. The reverse is not true? You dont need dye trader open when ur at the rune trader... if you need some dyes stand near the trader... etc. Its also implausible as the xunlai has magic (otherwise how would all the boxes in every town be the same), whilst traders are just that... traders.

umm... this is already implemented into GW.
you can walk away from the merchant/vendor and still merc/sell/buy stuff, BUT, there are a few rules.
1) you can not be moving when you click "buy" or "sell" or "request quote"
2) the last person you have clicked on (NPC-wise; clicking other HUMAN players is completely fine) has to be that person that the current window is open for.
3) make sure he does not leave your compass range
an example of how i use this feature: during the afk events (9-rings) i go into my ring and leave my storage AND the ticket person's window open. when i get low on tickets when i come back to my PC i don't have to go out of my circle. i just enter the amount i want to buy and start clicking "buy" until i have about 35 stacks of tickets on me. once i am done doing this, i can then go back afk and leave that window open.
this is something that, i, as a veteran GW player, have learned to do via trial-and-error. this is just one of the many things that turned out to favor me and worked that not many people at all know about so i guess i'll be sharing you "secret" with you all now due to common curtesy.
enjoy and have fun with it and remember to keep the 3 rules in mind when doing this. ^^

ive noticed this too and it hasnt really bugged me until one of the more recent updates where something happened to the spacebar action. it used to be i could be anywhere in a town, spacebar on an npc and walk around things to them. occasionally id get caught on something, but it wasnt usual. lately when i spacebar on something, it runs me in a straight line at them, then i get stuck on a wall. mighta been an ai update actually when i first noticed this. anyone else have this problem?

Hehe, and another thing - merchants being so far away from storage in some places can be annoying. lol.
