Does Guild Wars 1 still get updates
Heapey
i wanted to know if guild wars 1 still gets updates like new quests e.t.c
Marty Silverblade
New quests, not really, but there's a much anticipated update coming tomorrow. It's going to be big. Events like Wintersday (christmas) come around aswell, which provide some quests that aren't usually available, and cool stuff starts dropping aswell, etc.
Anet really only has a regular monthly update to adjust skills now, they're putting most of their efforts towards GW2.

Whats this 'big event' thing thats going on? o.o i really need to pay more attention to wiki.
Numa Pompilius
The last new quest would be the M.O.X. quests I guess.
Luminarus
Rothan, its basically a title balance that is hopefully going to address alot of the issues that everyone has been QQing about recently.

yes, GW still gets frequent updates. we are scheduled for "possibly one of the biggest updates GW has seen" (quoted from lindsey; an aNet dev working with the live-team for GW 1) tomorrow, if i recall correctly.

Calm down everyone. It might be big in notes and technical side but Regina has stated it's getting a lot of undeserved hype as an update.
To the OP. GW1 gets all the updates that affect the gameplay but I'd say the ship has probably sailed on the question of new content. If you want new content and can afford it that's what the new campaigns are for

1. "I started writing the update notes the other day and I think this might be one of the largest set of update notes we have ever done" http://www.wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/U...urdock/Journal
2. Regina is doing her job, by trying to head off the screaming by players who read selectively or listen to uninformed comments from other players, when the update itself is not as large as the community is now expecting.
Back On Topic: ArenaNet is still actively supporting the game. They do not intend to add any major content to the existing game, as they are looking forward to GW2. They have assigned several people to GW (including Lindsey, who has become the spokesperson) and continue to balance skills and run the holiday events.
As a promotion for the new combined edition released in Sept., they added the M.O.X. hero and associated quest and the Fire Imp Summoning Stone.
With their Free-to-Play system, ANet only makes money if new games are purchased or new content such as the Bonus Mission Pack. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised to see additional promotional content in the future.

and regina is not the one busting her ass all day everyday for 10+ hours daily to write the codes or decide on things to "update". imo she has no right to comment and say "it's getting too much hype for such an update"

ummm you might wanna listen to the pax interview with izzy and 1 other dev in the coming months there will be new lore missions and quests ect. added to gw1

@Rikku - and I bet it will be tied to a marketing promotion of some kind.
They need to sell units to make money. I am not knocking ArenaNet - great game, great company - but they are a business and need to make a profit to pay the salaries. They give us a lot for free, but I don't want them to go out of business or have to lay off people.
By major content, I meant another expansion the size of Eye of the North.
