GW NPC speech changing as GW2 approaches
prism2525
Possibly it has been noticed a while ago, but as part of the changes Tyria is undergoing, several NPCs have started to talk differently.
One recent example is Mad King Thorn's speech which he joked (badly) about our future in 200 years (we're all dead).
Anyone else found some titbits of info and/or hints which possibly have to do with GW2?
First off the Norn recently have been moaning about the weather, occasionally saying "Such a warm day!" Is global warming affecting the servers?

For Thorn, he comes up with new jokes every year. So that is nothing new.
The 200 year joke was a taunt at people who are constantly wanting info on GW2. I think.
Only dialogue change I've seen would be the Corsair Prisoner being turned into a Sunspear Volunteer in the training area of NF (forgot name of the area) which was changed to a bunch of whiners going on about torture.
I'll look into this Norn one though.

The norn have always talked about that, mainly the ones outside from what i've seen, nothing special.

All of the npcs in eotn that relate to a particular faction and have random dialogue change the dialogue set they give you based on your respective rep titles. So, I'm guessing that your norn rep hit a certain point, and the norn comments changed to include that one, which I personally remember having heard for quite a long time.

Thorns joke was a jab at the fact that the GW Community is constantly wanting GW2 info. Nothing more.
Theres no reason for NPC's to begin talking about GW2 considering its 250 years ahead of the GW1 World and they should know nothing about it.
Someone complained that the game was promoting torture through the Corsair Prisoner in the testing grounds, so Anet replaced the Corsair with a Sunspear and changed his dialogue.

Yes, seriously. Someone also started up a argument on the sacrificing skills on the whole idea of hurting one's self and suicide.
The Torture argument can be found on the Corsair Prisoner talk page on the official wiki, the Suicide one can be found archived on Linsey's talk page somewhere.

Wait, how do we know GW2 is really approaching?
imnotyourmother
too bad I can not burry my sword in the sand and then come back in 250 years and get it. I have not seen the norn change what they say to me yet. I just got lvl 5 last night and crafted my 120K armor for my HoM. Man that stuff is Really expensive. It has better give me something in GW2 or I'll me a trite upset.
Shasgaliel
I guess it will also happen to wounded corsair which needs to be killed to finish one of the quests in Plains of Jarin.

That quote has always been there, as long as I remember. Nothing new. It's meant to be some sort of an hyperbolic joke: the Norns are almost naked and it's snowing hard in the Far Shiverpeaks... yet they're so strong and robust they consider such a day a "warm day"...
draxynnic
It's what they're acclimatised to. They'd probably have real trouble in a lowlands summer...
