Banned for inappropriate name

Apparantly "Poo Chunkin Monkey" somehow crossed their imaginary line. Personally, i thought it was rather tame. Not to mention, I've had the character for months. Either way, 60 hours for that seems quite a bit excessive, maybe its just me.

In a way I am kinda glad though....I needed SOMETHING to break my addiction. Just kind of suprised me at how nazi their censors are.

How is that NOT offensive? Basically it is "Poop tossing monkey" which, although a natural idiocy that monkeys do, is offensive to some.

And like slowerpoke said, you get a decent name now.

It amazes me how harmless some people think what they do is. They don't think some young person might see it and then mimic it in real life in front of others. What may seem funny to you is not funny or appropriate to others. Perhaps the OP should question him/herself of the subject matter.

I just want to point and laugh at your name, not that its funny but who wants to be a poo chuckin monkey? its a sad sad thing, you know why the monkey do that? because of stupid human taunting them in their cage, no other reason.


however this is what i want to ask:
ban? did they not ask you to change it before you can use that character? if they ban and let you play again using that name you're probably banned for something else.

i agree the name is beyond dumb but you are way exaggerating the situation really i think a kid could find worse influence in quotes from the game itself

Is explicit really a bannable word? It's all the sensitive 40 year old carebears with stupid names like "Kathy Ishmakodikidori" that are reporting ridiculous unoffensive names like this. They run amok on Guild Wars.

I heard someone on here get banned for having the name Brawling Headbutt too, omfgiamsooffendedbanplz. How CLUELESS.

Why is it that children always think they're inappropriate names are not only appropriate, but also hilarious?

Buy some clue. They arent funny, you deserve your ban.

This is a lol on so many levels:

1) The name is terrible. If you're going to get banned for something, at least make it memorable.

2) The name is, indeed, well below any reasonable ban threshold. (Reasonable punishment: make you change the name.) The problem isn't that the cutline is imaginary; it's that it isn't clearly defined. But that's to be expected when it's clear that the definition of "bannable" is "Once I have this /report in my hands regarding your name, is that /report justifiable in any way, shape or form?"

3) You have difficulty putting this game down at this point?

4) You feel the need to compare the censors to Nazis. That insults both the ethics of the censors and the intellect of the Nazis at the same time!

So you got banned and wants to cry here? It's pointless imo, 'cause I know some people just like to report for no apparent reasons, the report system NEEDs to be fixed imo.

Some people might wanna take a look at what they are saying. There is a point where insulting people for the fun of it backfires and makes you look like a failure.

At OP: I'm pretty sure Anet just bans if someone reports about you're name if its in any way slightly vulgar. I doubt they check every report they get every day. Don't bother emailing about it just take a break ae.

So they can ban that but not Captian Quimang or everyones favorite Kessex Peak

is this a repeat offense? increasing penalties for repeat offenses. besides, it's a horrible name, get over it.

To all the carebears whining about offensive names - there are already offensive names in the game on NPCs - Shagu and Bendah, oh and dont forget those seamen in sticky operation. I dont see 'Poo Chunkin Monkey' as offensive, if you think it is then you should start petitioning for role playing channels / servers where people are expected to have real names only.

I still have my Mesmer 'D is for Lysdexia', and my monk 'Dizzy Monk Monk'. Neither of them are role playing realistic names, but there is nothing offensive about them. Poo isnt offensive either, hey, theres a childrens cartoon character by that very name, I believe its a yellow bear called Poo that loves his sweet honey. Everything can be rude if you have a brain full of poo.

Some people (idiots) like to report any name that could be interpreted inappropriately just so you get banned. They're idiots.

It is a stupid name though.

I guess I will say it again, it seems that someone is always offended by something whether it be really offensive or not. Allowing players to choose what they believe to be offensive (or the player being just plan vindictive) is asking for trouble.
In the future the only real way to get around this would be to just give characters numbers so that no names could ever offend anyone.

I wasn't aware that poo was an offensive word, but i agree the name is kinda stupid, at least that's my opinion
