I never do the books - and I didn't see this info on wiki.
I am just wondering - does one need to get masters (or do the bonus) for the page to appear in the book or is just completing the mission sufficient?

for the shiro return you dont need masters. i missed masters by a minute in vizunah but it still appeared. but i'm not sure for the other book.

I figured I'd simply try to not get masters - and tried it with the fastest mission.
Village in C3 - and I couldn't get the Sunspears killed.
HATE it when you get masters when you don't want it!
So I went to do the Wall - didn't do the bonus - and after completing the mission - the page appeared in my book.
Problem solved!

yep all the books require just doing the mission itself the bonus/masters don't pertain to the story line they are just there for something else to do.

No Masters needed for filling the book !!!

Just like the books from GW:EN, no masters needed, but in factions and nf getting masters etc gives extra faction points, book not necessary...
