no transparent walls??? auto zoom in/out is annoying

Hi, im going through the "Thirsty River" mission and what's beginning to annoy me is the focus automatically zooming in and out (upon moving my mouse i.e. rotating) when im in an enclosed area. I prefer to play with lowest magnification i.e. zoomed out, so I see more of the play area.

For example, in the mission, when I enter in the priestly chambers and try to position myself i.e. moving my mouse around, the focus starts to zoom in and out and my view becomes blocked many times by patches of walls/trusses. By the time I get a clear view, half my party is wiped out.

Is there a setting in GW such that I can play fully zoomed out, and when I enter an enclosed confine i.e. such that I should be seeing the roof, the roof instead becomes transparent and I REMAIN fully zoomed out, rather than the application zooming me in... arrgh...

Any help most appreciated.
cheers, V

I don't know that there is a setting though the camaera usually only zooms in when your next to or close to a "large" object in game like a cliff or wall at least for me.

The purpose of this is to purposefully create and utilise obstacles so that you are at a disadvantage in such instances.

It balances out the way that some games allowed players to fight with a wall behind them to prevent being attacked from behind.

This particular feature encourages you to position your group effectively to minimise damage and maximise visibility. In other words, obstacles should act like obstacles to both players and monsters so you generate tactics to overcome such things.

If you find it difficult, move away from the wall or learn how to fight with the obstacle. No use whining about a game mechanic that forces you to play a certain way...

Caballo, he wasnt whining. he was simply saying that it irritating when the view jumps in and out, auto rotates etc. im not sure how that got misconstrued into whining about fighting with his back to the wall? anyways to the OP i agree, anytime to end up with walls between you and your char the camera angle goes a bat shit crazy.

:-) I was exaggerating the point myself. I know voirin wasn't whining, it can be quite off-putting when anything gets in the way of your enjoyment of your passtime.

I was merely taking the opportunity to extol the virtues of 3rd-person gaming from the point of view of the developers. I personally think it's just another part of the riddle of the game. Huge open expanses don't have to be everywhere, and I simply wanted to point out that there are ways to overcome any challenge you experience.

If it's a difficult part of the game, I don't mind helping out when I'm online or giving tips. voirin stated that he prefers playing zoomed out as far as possible and I was merely pointing out that as far as possible is the wall in some instances.

The problem likely lies in you party configuration and tactics, as I've never had a problem with my party dying due to the camera zooming in and out. Make sure your team is equipped with skills that are relevant to the area your are fighting in.

Also, if the enemy has a height advantage, flag your party away from the ramp and pull the enemy down. You can also hide them behind obstacles so that arrows, projectile spells and wand orbs can't hit them.

lmao dont get me started on the whole third person thing. i understand what you were sayin though. i do like the OP's idea of simply makin the walls transparent so you can still have the same vantage point. this wouldnt effect movement, you would still be in tight confines. you would just be able to have a constant view.

Either you're very bad or you really like exaggerating.

I agree it's annoying. I never really get a party wipe because of the positioning; if I do it's really because I get so distracted by the annoying patches of wall in my vision and the camera zooming through my own face that I have to get the camera back to normal before I can play anything again - basically I get so distracted that my party wipes simply because I'm OCD.

This would break PvP.

No...you'll get used to it, most areas do not have this problem.

That was an exaggeration

Thanks for all your replies. Now that I know that there is no setting to maintain constant camera zoom, I shall develop better strategy.
