Supposedly req7 can still drop, but a max req7 drop hasn't been recorded in ages.
As for req8, at least inscribable, shields are the most common, followed by off hands and then swords. So I would suggest somewhere with lots of warriors...
However, farming req8's is like finding a needle in a haystack, you're far better off doing a "normal" farm and just buying the low req weapons from other people.

What he said, I have been playing this game (alot of hardcore farming Deep, FoW, UW, DoA) for 2 years now with alot of hours logged.
In all this time Ive "seen" 1 REQ 8 gold item drop. A Zodiac Scepter, not for me!
I have had Armor 16 REQ8 blue inscribable shields drop, but never gold ones.

hmm yeah quite rare drops, havent got single Max r8 gold drop since factions release and maybe 2-3 Blue r8 max drops (shields,offhands) .. before factions found few r7 & r8 though

only low req ive ever gotten was a q8 old school perfect smite staff, and that was before factions came out. This was at the beginning of my gw playing career, and i had no idea what it was worth ;p

I identified over 3220 golden items across all characters and never get max q8 weapon. I only got q8 blue offand and purple shield for paragon. If anybody could tell me what to do , to get any q8 gold inscr iteam i would be happy

your better off farming normal stuff than farming low req items req 7s havent been recorded in ages now. there are some req 8s but they are fairly rare.

Req 7 and 8 still drop as I know a person who got a req 7 max focus recently that was purple in tyria. The req 7 items hardly ever dropped in higher level areas. I suppose if you really wanted to farm them which isn't all that easy and not really profitable your best bet would be nahpui quarter chest running in normal mode. That location has spit out more req 7 items than any other I know simply because everything is at the right level and it use to have an insane amount of chest runners cycling through it hence why celestial is one of the more common req 7 skins. If you simply want to obtain one for your collection I suggest you farm something else and buy one from someone like me or other higher end traders. If the item is even partially usable expect 100k+ value.

Before NF came out I got a Rq8 perfect 20/-5 30hp Outcast shield drop, Best drop Ive ever gotten. I got that from a chest beside Jaqui in Gyala. Kept on rezoneing until that same chest (location) came up again and then got a Req9 Perfect Embossed aegis. (Worth alot at the time)
I actually thought there might be something to this. Chests that spawn with bosses. Unfortunately a couple of weeks later Anet decided to make chest drops completely random in an update, so i stopped testing.

I've only seen 2 req 8's ever drop, one was a white sword, the other was a blue death magic offhand, which I still have. Both came from CoF in HM.

like for example i had a gold req8 axe, crap skin, 20/20,+30hp BUT with no additional mod like the 15%.. so it was a basicly gold maxed, thats all. how much you think it was worth? do you think blue or white worth anything?
what about purples?

Apparently you have a larger chance of getting these lower req weapons from killing ennemies that are NOT level 20, although above a certain level. Alot of reputable people seem to agree with this concept.
This can be easily demonstrated farming Raptor nestlings in NM. Seeing as mid-level ennemies often drop low req weapons that are off in dmg, sometimes by 1 or 2 from the minimum or maximum weapon damage.
That being said, it would be just a matter of time and insane luck farming somewhere plausible for lower end ennemies.

the best I got was a req8 gold 14^50 max fellblade: I've found it in a chest in frozen forest (shiverpeak chest) almost 3 years ago...I didn't find another max req8 since then

Not too long after I started playing (sometime around the Sorrow's Furnace update, I think) a gold req8 Heavy Summit Axe of Warding dropped for me. It had a crummy mod like +15 while hexed or some such. I think it was in the Northern Shiverpeaks. I had no idea about reqs and such and customized it for my warrior. He's still got it. :-)

I had a req8 Chaos Axe drop for me on one of the first FoW runs I did, around the release of Factions (didn't get started until GW was almost a year in the running). I'd have to ask my wife what was on it, no max mods that I remember... close, but just under max dmg I think, a grape, not a gold. She still has it. One of the many gifts that she has gotten over the last close to 3 years of play.
I still have the first Chaos Axe that she ever had drop for her (her first toon was an Ele, mine is my Warrior), a req11 6-28 14^50. I have better, but it's still the gem of my collection.

A buddy of mine got a max r7 +15% -10AL FDS last week from a locked chest in Hell's Precipice while we were going for Mission+Bonus in HM.

I suppose since I am bored and its costly to farm them anyway I will give a few spots to farm req 7 weapons as much as they can be farmed. I already stated about nahpui for celestial req 7's. A second place in cantha that they seem to drop a little more often is vizunah square mission from the canthan chests in it. The large mix of afflicted levels creates an opportunity for plague born req 7's. The final location is for tyrian req 7 skins that is in the Reed bog. The reed bog will usually output a crappy req 7 max focus,sword,etc every few inventories full of chest running. It is a very quick run and besides the occasional ultra rare perfect gold req 7 it only will net you lucky/unlucky points. Twin serpent lakes is another zone that can drop them semi often. I also don't want you taking semi often out of context by semi often I mean you will occasionally get a piece of crap req 7 that is max from filling your inventory several times in a row running the zone. So I guess gl for the most part your far better off buying them from the few assorted perfect ones.
