Hi there, a friend of mine would like to try out guild wars, but would he be able to use my discs (instead of having to buy the first game) and create an account of his own that way, or would he only be able to use my account and my chars...we do not live near each other I'm in Wiltshire he is in Yorkshire, so it would be a case of posting them to him if it is possible to do that......Thanks in advance......lynx

Your account is registered to your e-mail address - unless you give him your login details, he wouldn't be able to access your account.

It doesn't matter if he can or can't get a physical copy of the game - you can download the game client (what you install from the disks) from the official website. It's the code that came with the game that you need to register. And if you've already used it for your account, then he can only register by either buying it in a shop/online or purchasing it from the store on the official website.

the game itself can be downloaded from Guildwars.com website, but to make an account you need a key, without a key you cant access any of the contents. you can request a buddy trial key from the thread at the top of this section.

Most gamestops sell a demo disk for all 3 guild wars campaigns. They only cost $2. Tell him to buy one of those. Or if you have one of the trial keys that came with your boxed versions.

www.guildwarsguru.com and you can download the game client for free. To actually play you must pay for an account (that is you need to purchase an access key).

As well as above, account sharing is against the T&C's so if he logs in you may get banned and thus lose all the accomplishments you have on your acct.

If he wants to try the game, individual campaigns are really cheap in game and gamestop and the complete collection is around £30. Tell him to get the demo and try it himself and don't risk your account.

No, he won't be able to create an account of his own. To create an account, you need an access key. If he tried to use your access key to create an account, GW would tell him the key was invalid, or in use. He should get a trial key to create his own account. If he likes the trial, he can simply add a regular access key (by purchasing one) to the trial account to continue with the same characters, etc.

It would be possible for him to use your account and characters, but you would have to tell him your account name and password. Sharing of accounts is, however, against the EULA (user agreement) and could get you banned. And, of course, there's no telling how much mess he could cause in your account.

Bottom line - get him/her a trial key or buy a retail package.
