Universal Armor set
Sedrick Thorgal
please, I am tired for switching between xx versions of my armor for my x character. I need 4 set of head piece and 4 set of Gloves for each atribute and for each character and still I cannot use all combination of rues and insignias which I would use. For more combination is not place in my small chest.
I want one armor set for each character and I want switch runes and insignias for each piece of armor (right click on armor and select rune). This switch is posible only in the outpost before player enter to location - the game rulez is all fours. For standard armor principle stay unchanged. For elite armor each pice can contain all blue, purple and gold runes possible for each character type. For obsidian armor is the same rulez like elite armor + can contain all possible insignias for character type. Runes to armor piece can join Armorer in the outpost for some payment, the more runes and insignias is in the same armor piece the more gold is sold for join next rune or insignia. Separate Headgear for each primary attribute is stupid, would be good use EoN system for all campain (+1 to the attribute of the rune applied to it).
With this system player can combine and use all runes and insignias and can use pve character in pvp without limitation.
P.S. sorry for my bad english

You know if you put the attribute runes on the helmet you only have to switch the helmet when changing attributes?
/notsigned for prestige armor to do more than look good
I don't see a point for helms to be like they are in EotN; you still need one for each attribute, unless you want to buy new runes over and over.

While we're at it. Metamorphic weapons that can change stats at will... Because I too am tired of carrying so many different shields/offhands/weapons/etc. Just an idea that's equally outlandish and destined for failure.

For 2 reasons, 1: becuase it would be neat to apply all the runes/insignias to ONE headpiece and select what runes you need for what build you are using. For example: As long as you have bought the rune and put it on the headpiece it can be selected by *right clicking* the armor piece bringing down a little scroll box to pick the rune you want to use. (I hope that made sense) lol
And 2, my big one personally: Now theres a reason for prestige armor to do more then just look cool! lol, I mean cmon 70k more then all the nublet armor and all it has is *more spikes* on it. Haha

Particularly if it only applied to elite armour. Elite armour is only supposed to look good. This is a HUGE point GW was trying to make when they released the game and it is something that (thank goodness) hasn't changed while the rest of the game has.

I think it would be pretty cool to have an armor system where instead of paying small amounts for runes and insignias, you could pay to have an armor piece imbued with certain buffs, and then scroll through to select the ones you'd like at that moment.
That's a GW2 suggestion though, since it'd be quite different from what we have now.

The PvE mechanic works fine with respect to armours. follow suggestions as per Marty with regard attribute runes. Many profs have cheap headpieces and 4-piece armour sets/efficient ways to manage runes/insigs e.g. para, ele, warrior silver eagle. Elite armour is meant to be expensive. Use your favourite runes/insignias on that the way you like most of the time.
The PvE system is fine concerning this. Go learn about perfect salvage kits. If you want drag and drop selection, you can play PvP. The same mechanic is not meant for PvE.

/signed all the way!!!!!!! Most players who disagree on this have trouble getting elite armor anyway.

I dont understand what some people dont agree with this, for people who want rather 6-8 sets of armor for each character it is no problem, hi can buy armor for each rune an insignia separate and store it in you rinventory or in your chest. But player who want save place in inventory can have only one armor and can use all runes and insignias.
If you want to be possible have multi runes armor for all class of armor, so be it, it is not general idea. On may own i use norn armor for my ranger because is nicer than obsidian, but if obsidian will have some extra than other I will go and buy it. What it do with prices of ectos and shards and runes? I think this raise price up, because i think many people will want perfect armor and will buying all for obsi armor and will buy more runes, not only small range of most use runes and insignias.
General idea is dont waste time and gold with repeating salvaging runes and waste storage place with armor pieces.
Someone say - go and buy perfect salvage kit, its stupid i think, this is expensive and only for 5 uses, salvage kit is ocupiing next place in my storage, salvage rune i must destroy or again save in storage.

Hey how about armor that automatically adjusts to suit the build I load because that would save me time and money....?

If you want to use different builds then you get the armor needed for those builds.... the game should not be altered to cater for sheer lazyness in getting what is needed. If you really think have to have every armor set in so many combinations.... you need to learn to play more and settle more on a play style.
PvE you'll find one or two and then dont need any more.
Oh and I have over 20 characters every one having elite armor... my main has 5 elite armors including FoW. I see no need for this rubbish

Ideally, armor would work like this:
There are no armor pieces in your inventory since armor is always 'on' (though 'zero AL armor = underwear' is one of the available options). Armor cannot be salvaged.
You can freely switch the skin of an armor piece to any option that you have unlocked so far with that character. Unlocking new skins works like crafting new armor in GW except that providing the materials to the crafter unlocks the skin in question instead of producing a new piece of armor. The skin of the armor is decoupled from other properties of the armor except for special pieces like underwear which always has zero AL.
You can freely switch the armor level to any that you have unlocked so far with that character. Unlocking a new armor level works like crafting new armor in GW. The armor level is decoupled from other properties of the armor and available options depend on your profession and experience level.
You can freely switch the insignia and rune of an armor piece to any that you have unlocked for that character. You unlock an insignia or rune for your character by applying it to the armor. This consumes the insignia or rune and it cannot be salvaged later.
This, of course, is not feasible in GW but we can always hope for a better system in GW2.

I like how they have the Pvp armor/equip set up. Too bad that somehow couldn't be done with Pve.
(More storage for armors maybe. Bwahahahaha! Would be nice though, esp for chars that have a lot of farming armor. )

I like the idea of not having to switch armors out. But I think you should still have to buy the runes for each "set" to be unlocked on. At least that way there is still rune/insignia market.

Making purchases contributes to the economy...if we could simply add all runes to to our armour a lot of players would cease to buy any kind of armour except their first - thus breaking the economy even more than it's broken already...

1.) if someone have many sets of armor for farm, mostly have the cheapest armor which is possible and want do minimal changes in your armor
2.) if elite and obsi armor will have some extra properties (except prestige only which is debatable) many peoples will want the best armor
if payment for join one rune to armor pice will be for instance 10k, then one perfect armor pice with all runes will cost about 110k for all runes + 60k for all insignias
this is only price for crafting + price for material and price for armor + price for each rune and insignia from rune trader = cca 200k - now this all multiple 5 for each armor piece = 1Mega for one character, now multiply for each palyer character which is not mule. Sry, but i doubt that you or someone here who say that this will plundred economy, have 1-5-6 mega for pefect full armor for all his character. This is verry more expensive than current armor system but is it more effectively and can be it next goal for powerfull farmers. If will big interest for elite and obsi armor all material for this armor go up. This is good for Economy not bad.

I found it almost impossible to read the rest of your post but as to this point, your argument cannot stand because the main premise of your point will NEVER happen. Elite armour will NEVER have extra properties, because it is cosmetic only. Anet will not change this at any point since it goes against their entire business model of not catering to only 'hardcore' gamers. Casual gamers would be at a sever disadvantage if they have to buy 'expensive' armour simply to receive bonuses. This seems to be what you're suggesting, and not only am I totally against the idea, but I can pretty much guarantee that this is not even something that Anet will ever consider. And if they ever do I can also guarantee that they will lose a lot of customers.

Ok, I'm still trying to figure this out. I'm still very confused as to why people don't understand the basic principles the game was initially developed on. It works like this:
Every character (player) after attaining maximum level, has access to the SAME equipment as every other character at a price which is reasonable for every character to pay, and that the only differences between normal and "elite" armour and weapons are cosmetic.
Why, when this concept is so simple, are people saying that elite armour needs a purpose. No, it doesn't. This game is not your typical MMO. It was never intended to be. Elite armours are COSMETIC rewards for players who play enough to collect the funds to pay for it. Elite armours are not necessary, they were never intended to be necessary, and by trying to change this you create a situation where it would be advantagious to have them. Anet wants no player to have such and advantage on the sheer basis of in-game funds.
Players who aren't /signing this, are actually likely to be players who DO have and can AFFORD to have multiple elite sets. Our /not signed, is due to the fact that we whole-heartedly agree with the premise on which the game was first released, and we don't want this to change.
I'm sorry that some of you can't see that this game is NOT WoW. That to do the HIGH LEVEL CONTENT you DO NOT need elite armour. You DO NOT need to MIN-MAX everything. You DO NOT need a certain build, a certain weapon, a certain armour. You DO NOT NEED anything of the sort. If you WANT these things, then you PAY for them, in both in-game cash and in storage space. But they WON'T give you any real advantage.
I walked out to a vanquish the other day with a brand spanking new armour set that I hadn't put any runes or insignias on. I didn't realise this until I had finished the vanquish. Now I do not consider myself to be a good player. Average, yes, good no. And I certainly don't play the sort of hours that would be necessary to make me a 1337 player. Yet I still completed high level content in "less than optimal conditions".
If you WANT it. PAY for it. Have your 10 sets of armour with all possible combinations. Given that you only have one build per explorable you don't need to carry all of it in you character's personal inventory.
Yes storage space is a problem - but that is another subject altogether and would be better fixed by other solutions.

Anyways, If casual gamers are in fact "casual" then why would they care that much about having good armor? lol. I know and I definitely admire the fact that newer players can play with experienced players because they dont NEED prestige armor...But honestly, if youre good at the game, I think you should be able to have better performing armor as long as you can get it...
And lastly, The only reason I like the idea of the ability to put extra runes/insignias on pieces of armor is for storage room. And I know all of you think we should just buy more character slots, but its not because I dont have room for more armor, its because its easier to manage every thing...

Such a thing could be PvE only. And a PvE only skin would be a bit senseless.

Yes, different insignias and runes in pve is very annoying, its why I play on pvp charactars. Otherwise Id care to buy a gd skin...
Especially on like eles. They should change it, also for pve heroes.
And I dont find this has anything to do with elite armor, because it's annoying anyhow.
My suggestion would be to add multiple runes to an armor piece and select which one you want to use. For example you could buy gloves and put a radiant AND survivor insignia on it, and vitea AND an air magic rune or cripple rune or w/e and then chose the effect from the ones you have added (like you do in PvP after unlocking).

You said because elite armor is not better, and because of that GW is not like other MMO's as if the armor was better then GW would be the same as say WoW? You said that GW would be "too much" like other MMO's if armor was better based on the price of it basically...
Do you actually play GW??? Because as far as im conscerned, there are FAR many more reasons that GW is not like ANY other MMO.
PvP is absolutely phenominal is GW. That alone is a HUGE difference to other games.
The 8 skill bar is completely different then MANY or ALL "popular" MMO's that I have played.
There are outposts unlike the worlds "greatest" mmo, WoW...
No offense, but you dont seem to appreciate what GW is TRULY about...lol
