While I understand the consequences of injecting a large amount of gold into the economy in a short interval, I don't see the problem with making books retroactive for faction only.
So every mission that you've done you would get credit for when you receive faction for turning the book in, but you would not get credit for when you receive the gold.

Give it up people, it's not happening. At this point, it would be absolutely impossible for ANet to know who finished the missions before the update, and hence who should get bonus storybook pages. There is zero reason why they should have saved the date and time that you first finished a particular mission.

this seems like a waste of anet's time and energy. while it would be nice i'm not gonna moan about it. for most people they could have done the books over again and gotten the gold and faction in the time they have spent complaining about it.

Anyone been having problems with these books?
I have done missions and not gotten credit, and my buddie has, and i have gotten credit and my buddy didnt.
He just did every single mission, beat shiro and the book was missing #8.
He then turned in the incomplete book (missing #8) to Shiro, he got 3k gold, but he didnt get the 30k kurz faction.
I helped him with some of the missions, and when we did #1 he got credit for it and i didnt, and yes we both had the books in our inventory.
