Hi,

I recently bought the game (Complete collection ) but i have no idea what todo or how todo it.

Now i was looking for another newbie player (or experienced) who wanna explore or teach me the ways of the Guild Wars. im more of a PVP oriented player but love to PVE also, so either 1 is fine.

Are there any newbie guilds out there who teaches you the ropes ?

my gaming experience : Ultima-Online, been playing for 7/8 years so its time for something new .

You can post in the Guilds section of the forum for "Looking for a guild" and read the posts in the "looking for members" subforum.

There is also teamlove.us which is dedicated to teaching PvP to keep it alive.
-------------

As for playing the game, you can check out the wikis for detailed info. We have two at

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page (available in-game via F10 or help on menu)

http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
-----------------

For info on playing any certain profession, check the stickied guides in the Campfire section subforums.

Hi , I am new too , just got the game few days back

I suggest the following

1.Play the game a bit ...get to know the basic and do some quests

2.Look for a guild and get to know your guild members

3.Read those wiki , it really helps a lot ...

Finally take your time and enjoy yourself , there is no monthly fees in this game , so no rush ...

My in game name is Jack Lau and hope to play with you sometimes

Cheers

So, with PvE char you can do both PvP and PvE but with PvP you can only PvP, and you can transfer weapons from PvE to PvP but all armors are customized so cannot be used with other char

Aah oke, so i guess PVE is the best option (since you can unlock skills etc wich a pvper cant).. Thanks

a pvp char can unlock skills via faction rewards. so that statement would be incorrect.

it is suggested the best method is to play through pve and unlock a majority if the skills of the profession you like the most. then you can either do casual pvp with the guild your in if they want to do that or break off from your guild and try some pvp

My honest opinion in making your gaming experience best for this game: If you are a newbie, learn the game with a newbie. I taught my friend how to play when he was a newb, but HONESLTY, theres nothing like learning how to do things by yourself, or learning it WITH someone else.

Its kind of hard to explain, but for most of the basics and what not, learn with a newbie. When you and your new buddy are stuck, then look for some more help. You will understand at first what it takes to get platinum, and then what it takes to get MORE platinum. And you really learn how to do different things to accomplish NEW things...

Again hard to explain - But do it with another newbie! lol

Well, try not to get a run to any place on your first character, even if its a run for max armor. take your time, explore from outpost to outpost, learn the map, look out for the next armor collector, and enjoy the game. Rushing through the game doesn't make you any better then you are when you first started it.

Good choice, in my opinion; Proph is the slowest of the games, and easily the most gratifying for accomplishing things. You'll be PvP ready slower if you play solely one character, but with some experience under your belt, that's not a bad thing. Remember, don't worry too much about your skills and build-- though asking for advice and help from friends, teammates and guildies is always a good idea. Just go for the skills you think have the best synergy with each other and your weapons, preferences, and attributes.

Oh, and bring a rez. :P

when in a town you can always change your skills and attribute points. Press K in a town and the skills and attribute window will apear where you can change them around.

Back in my newb days i was also afraid of taking a second profession, so delayed that a lot. Its good to know second profession is not permanent and can be switched later in the game.

I agree with that statement. Having a level 20 in your party when you do the Ascalon~Shiverpeaks quests kinda ruins the experience. Great Northern Wall is actually a semi-challenging mission with all lvl 3s

I strongly agree. When I first started in February 06, my friend who had the game for about a month led me through a bit and gave me a few hundred so I can get armor *lol me fail*. I found it a lot more satisfying to learn and sometimes explore with him than with another friend who was already close to beating the game...I dk why but playing with newbie will be best IMO!

Prophecies has the slowest leveling of all the Guild Wars games, but imo is most steady pace. You can easily get to lvl 20 (which is max) before half way if you do all the quests and get the bonuses in the missions.

Glad someone likes the henchmen (when you get farther along, or get Nightfall or Eye of the North, you won't like henchmen I bet).

Have fun hunting Charr and going through the game! *AVOID SPOILERS! The storyline is actually good despite what some people say. They just can't handle dramatic irony.*

i agree, dont rush, if you rush all your gonna be left with is a character that has finished the campaign and then you wont have much left to do, specially if you only have proph as a lot of the easier titles are in NF/Faction and EotN. take your time and if you need help either look in the wiki or post your question here. if you need any help my IGN is touched by balthzar and ill try to help you with anything if im not busy.

And don't be afraid to ask questions in-game. Just go to a more populated town/outpost that you have visited before and ask your question. It might take a few tries (and some rude comments from the real NOOBS), but you can usually find someone to answer you.

We all like to show off our knowledge.

And, check the wiki when you get weapons as quest rewards. Some of them are worth quite a bit more than the merchant price to other players. For example, the Cities of Ascalon quest gives you a Grim Cesta that sells for 6-8k to aspiring low hit point builds or the warrior weapons with a Furious 10% mod.
