Hmm, you guys obviously didn't play alot of Pre. (I got LDoA like 3 times)
Necro toally sucks, and might be the hardest profession.
Mesmer works, but ever since the update, charr don't kill themselves with spell through Backfire no more, so it's rather slow to kill as a mesmer.
Monk works slow, but faster than both above, mainly do to the fact that Symbol of Wrath does big damage in Pre.
Ele is strong because of flare and Fire storm, but they got nearly no defence, and are sitting ducks against groups with some melee, a healer and a mesmer (shatter > you).
Warrior is strong (W with troll unguent), cuz U pretty much tank all charr whilst one hitting them with the rhino's charge hammer.
Ranger is BEST, besides being the most OP class in about every aspect of this game, you can get a /bonus item bow, and 1 hit any charr with Dual shot, and regular attacks.
Point Blank shot can also one hit charr if you get a crit, or come atleast close to... Troll unguent is the icing on the cake...

Agree that the Fire Imp will be a huge help. It would be 0 help in pulling/Deathleveling tho...a major nyet!
I did the title with a Necro/Mesmer ( take the second class if it has a useful skill you can use! ) The minions were a huge help..aggro, hide behind anything that blocks projectiles and spam minions/Deadly Swarm/Vampiric gaze/life Siphon with Vamp Touch as a nice finisher. Life Siphon was handy when pulling groups to..hit one or 2 with it and you can take lots of hits running.
That said, I would think that a Warrior/Ranger...Armor plus troll Unguent can't go wrong. You can inflict bleeding/deep wound-FTW cept when you die before the charr :P Axe gives aoe damage. Axes and Hammers ( I think swords) can be found iname with decent mods including +25 health
Ranger Monk could also be a strong runner, good armor (great vs elemental) troll Unguent and protection prayers would make pulling/running a pleasure. Bows also can be gotten with +25 health.
The Title does take a while but most of the time is just waiting while you are sleeping or just away. The Charr bags that bosses at the shrine drop are nice bags. They look better than the regular sacks and carry 10 items.
Last but not all or least. You can amass a small fortune getting the title. Always wipe the shrine...even when you have good groups already for Dleveling. The bags go for 700ish gold and the Char kits ( 5 use salvage kits ) go for about 5k.+ You will also pick up a bunch or runes/insignias and will no doubt have a +1 rune for all attributes along with a +30 health in time.
I sold alot of the extra runes and insignias unsalvaged/cheap and kept only the more valuable ones. This helps keep inventory open to pick up alot of goodies dropped on runs. You can expect to have something approaching
100k when you finish the title You will also have no trouble pulling groups later on in the game :P ( just for the fun of it I pulled every mob at the portals in the Ring Of Fire mission. cept the Wraiths)
Good luck with the title

I got ldoa on a warrior with troll unguent. I solo'd bosses at level 10 (poorly, with some dying) but by level 12 was kicking their butts. That was before the fire imp update. Now I bet it's way easier. And you get the glacial blade and serrated shield for bonus weapons (max weps in pre!) I know you're supposed to use the hammer too, but I never bothered.
There was an update that stopped the charr casting through backfire... Can't say I've noticed that. The only difficulty with backfire is not that they don't cast, but that their skill bars don't allow them too (3 skills, high recharge time). The necros die to backfire very quickly. As does the ele boss. The mesmers and monks can't cast enough to make it worth it, but they will happily wand through empathy.
In my experience mesmers and eles take down the bosses the fastest (but are the squishiest), followed by warrior and ranger. Monk and necro is a little slow.
