Fast Food - drive through convenience for consumables
Fitz Rinley
I tried doing a search on consumables and found nothing - so, hoping this is not a duplicate on anything.
I like some of the consumables but hardly ever use them. I do occasionally. (Have a few times, but extremely rarely.) I have not even used up the ones I got from questing. One reason is, they are not a purchase priority. Another is, they are a pain in the screen to use. The entire time I was going for Legendary Survivor I used very few scrolls. So few, I could almost say no scrolls. I even gave up trying to use them and just merched them for extra cash. There are two reasons for this: 1. Out of sight out of mind (would remember them when there was no longer a reason to bother)!, and 2. When I need something I am busy fighting and so can't afford to open my inventory and lose screen space while looking for what I want to use. (Yes, I do keep things in very specific locations in my inventory - it is not a matter of organization.) I have two optional ideas on how this could be improved.
1) Make is so that all consumables can also be placed in the weapon sets menu. This would include: scrolls, summoners, alcohol, sweets, etc. Then when clicked on or the appropriate F key is pressed the consumable is activated.
2) Set up an alternative Consumables Menu just like the Weapon Sets Menu and let player assign which keys they want to use. I would probably use keys F5 through F8. Again when ever the icon would be clicked on or the key pressed the consumable would be activated.
Thanks for your consideration.

I like the idea of linking a hotkey to an item in your inventory. I would probably remember to put out my mini-pet more often if he was attached to F5 or something.
This would be nice in GW, but may be too much work to put in now. It'd be nice in GW2, though.

as for GW1 - aren't consumables making nm, even hm ridiculously easy - you might as well spend an extra second in PvE (omigosh) to use em

When I read the title I instantly thought this was a Solange thread. I'm actually kinda disappointed now.
Anyway, Puppeteer pretty much covered it - using consumables is not that big a deal, you open your inventory, hit everything you need, boom you're done. Five seconds max, and that's if they're in another bag that you didn't start in. Also, why would you use a consumable mid-battle? Scroll of Resurrection is the only one I can think of but even then you're just asking for another wipe if you get 4-5 people up at 25% health.

I'm not oppossed to consumables but I don't think I'd want more clutter on my screen to remind me what I have in inv either.
Before you go out put a couple handy consumables in the main bag and leave it open?

As noted by several other people, consumables should be used before battle, and there isn't a need to use them quickly. Scroll of Resurrection is the only exception I know of, although possibly the DP removers like 4 Leaf Clovers for long fights not going so well.

Has anyone ever told you that "/unsign" makes no sense at all?

Guild Wars is pretty much the Sims only with Weapons and Junk. It has an economy. Fast Food are one of the many things GW is just missing.

Most people don't know that, but you can drop a weapon into a Quick Weapon slot in order to link it to that slot.
The same thing ould be made with any other usable item, from Kits to consumables. And even headgear.
Open inventory, drag the item to the slot, drop it, and item linked.
Of course, this would be better if more slots existed. The current four are fine for weapons, but if you add armor or consumables to the list of things that can be linked it would be better if you could link at least 8 items. (F1..F8)
I don't use F5 to F8, anyways, since I have linked the inventory keys to letters.

If it's not easy enough I suggest you go back to colouring books.

GW consumables don't work the same way that consumables do in other RPGs...I just don't think it's a necessary addition at all.
FlamingMetroid
no, consumables are in no way important enough for this feature

I don't understand why some insist on labelling those who don't agree with their ideas as "bitter and twisted". Yes GWG is full of posters who just want to tear into other people's ideas but honestly some ideas are superfluous, like this idea. It does not add anything to the game. It won't make consumable use faster. If GW had health or mana potions then it would make sense but this...
