Hiyas everyone..
I was playing with the guildies in Urgoz last night, and another dam assasin tome dropped from a thorn wolf.
Then, not 2 minutes later, a necromancer tome from a thorn wolf...><
Then it hit me:
My guild plays Urgoz every night, and I always get a dang necr0, or assasin tome!
Why can't I get an elemental, or even a dervish tome?
Why just these 2, worthless..(at least to me) tomes?
Is there a set drop rate in Urgoz?
Anyone else experience this?
(No, not really a Q&A thread here, just some discussion.)

Maybe because there are a lot of wolves and bats in Urgoz and a few elementals (...are there any?) and no dervishes.

Well, you're certainly not going to find a derv tome in Urgoz. That's because there are no dervishes in Urgoz. If you're looking for a certain kind of tome, the best way to do it is probably to load up some farming build and look for an area with a lot of whatever profession you're looking for.

Hmm..I swear I have seen Wardens using derv skills down there..
And there are rits/eles/ect.
Those do drop ranger tomes, and mesmer tomes...but I never get them.

There are a lot of Warden eles down there... that is for sure. >.> But I agree with you trub, the most tomes I get are Necro ones. Could use the assassin ones but those never drop for me. Only the ones I don't need drop. oO I think the Anet is after you!

I looked on wiki...and no dervs or paragons listed.
Ok, I can deal with that...but what of the other profs?
I could go for a few monk, rit,ele,ect.
(I have 17 assasin tomes Pwnd....they are now all yours!)

I think it's a conspiracy that ANet has started! oO They went and found the least played PvE professions and have given them an excess of tomes! (I have a plethora of Mesmer tomes, or atleast did along with Necro tomes)


Trub I has 6 Dervish tomes 2 Rit tomes, and an Elite Rit tome you can have.

The only thing I have ever had drop ele tomes were Terrorweb Dryders, and the only monk tomes I ever get are from Snowman dungeon. I seem to have the same issues with tome drops from all other areas.

I got a poop load of warrior (20 and counting) of warrior tomes in the First City Farunhar when I do 330hp farming with my Rit. A couple of Necro and 1 ele tomes after about 20 farming runs in the past 2 weeks.

Normal tomes drop from the same class mobs - so no wonder you got Assassin and Necro tomes in Urgoz Warren, there are tons of Necro and Assassin mobs as people already mentioned.

I doubt that any Paragon or Dervish tomes drop there. IIRC boss mobs also only drop an elite tome of their class, but not of another one.

As state above, if you are looking for a certain tome you have to kill that which would carry it. I get plenty of ele tomes in hard mode outside of LA from Fire IMPS, Derv tomes outside of Eye of the north outpost in hard mode when you kill Chilling Wisp. Warrior tomes outside of Ascalon against Stone Elementals, HM, and as everyone knows you get a ton of Assassin tomes in the raptor cave.

A good place for Ele, Mesmer, and Warrior tomes is the tombs. The Dryders drop ele tomes, Dream riders and Scythes drop mes, the Grasps drop warrior. You'll prolly only find derv and para in NF locations. I think I've gotten mesmer or ele tomes in FoW from the Dryders(can't remember which, but I'm pretty sure it's mes) and you might be able to get rng tomes from the cave spiders there too.
