Nahpui Quarter
Essell
I've started playing Factions again after quitting a year or so ago, and got my first character (an Assassin/Mesmer) to 20, and managed to get him three 70 pieces of armor.
However, today i've decided to continue the primary quest line and at the same time remember the reason i stopped playing Guild Wars.
So, Nahpui Quarter.
I'm having a real hard time with it, everytime i tried it i just wiped out of some tiny stupid mistake, however today i've managed to reach Tahmu and succesfully got past him, however the very first group that i have to clear after him killed me in mere seconds (there were about two of every lesser celestial, along with two Star Sentinels or Blades). What surprises me is that i did it with two healers and Talon, unlike 7 henchmen, that i usually went with to clear it.
Am i doing something wrong? Is there a certain catch to it, or is it meant to be this hard?
Here's my current skill setup. Also, if you want to suggest any improvement at all, please bear in mind that i only own Factions, at least for now:
Leaping Mantis Sting
Fox Fangs
Death Blossom
Critical Eye
Sharpen Daggers
Flashing Blades
Shadow Refuge
Dash
Also, i'm avoiding grouping with players for this mission, as i'm afraid of screwing up or dieing too much, so if you can also suggest what henchmen would be best suited, that would be awesome.

Your build isn't too bad considering you don't have access to much yet. I would suggest you switch [Fox Fangs] for [Wild Strike] and switch [Leaping Mantis Sting] for [Jagged Strike] or [Black Mantis Thrust]. The reason for these switches is that you want to be able to use [death Blossom] as much as possible, since they have lower recharges it will let you spam your most powerful skill more often. A bit further into the game you will get access to some better combinations. (such as [Moebius Strike] + [Death Blossom] spamming). Also, do you have max armor? If you have less then 70 armor as an assassin at the point you will be taking quite a bit more damage then normal. You can get that armor in Kaineng, north of the marketplace.
As for your hench group: are you taking the ritualist henchies? Honestly they are just as good or better then the healer henchies in most cases. Their builds are pretty decent while the hench healers have WAY too many 10 energy skills they spam, losing all the energy they have 5 seconds into the battle. Either take both ritualist henchies or 1 rit 1 monk.
For tahmu: he is going to deal a hell of a lot of damage if you run straight in. Its better to call your target with ctrl + space to send in the warrior hench in the group first. Or better yet find a decent human group, though those are rare to come by. Still, even a sub par human group should be able to do it decently well, don't worry about doing something stupid, as long as you aren't running into battle first ahead of everyone else noone will have a problem with you.
I recommend that if you decide to get a new campaign that you get nightfall from a purely skills related point of view. You will get a nice amount of new nice assassin skills, some overpowering PvE ones like [Critical Agility], and heroes which can be set up to basically be uber henchies.

do it with humans and youll have less trouble, also make sure you pull and watch aggro. your build isnt bad but you might wanna go [Death Blossom] [Moebius Strike]

i remeber a few years ago when i did that mission whit my necromancer when he was my main :P i failed that mission like 3 or 4 times tried a few changes on builds until i got it right.
then when i got to giala hatchery some guy asked what armour was i using ,all that time i had begginers armour. lol then i started saving for max al.
thing is just try new builds
this is what i tried last few days whit a new sin:
she still is only lv 18 already got max armour and i just finished the arborstone mission (she is like 1 week old haves like 4 deaths only cause ive might get distracted while using the perma sins skills properly dont play on her much too)
well i got the perma assasin skills whit enchating daggers 20% longer enchant(works whit any 20%enchant weapon)
glyph of swiftness
deadly paradox
shadow form
the rest are optional consider bringing health regen skills and running skills (this is how i rushed through a few quests
now if you have any heroes
so far i got
mox,vekk,ogden,jora and gwen
i run a few wierd builds which are kinda noobish but they do help a bit
vekk
as a ether healer ( i think the elite is called ether renewal) seed healing, dwaynas kiss,word of confort.
ogden
MM whit jagged bones+ double minion summon(w/e its called) death nova ,aegis,PS rest optional /rez
gwen
ss+ip+barbs+ energy regen skills, ether something :P
rest henchy
just act like a tank on missions and let your heroes do the hard work.
who cares if this is a noobish buid its working great for me and im almost finished whit factions and did some vanguard/norn quests.
edit
just saw you only got factions: so this wont work

The Meth
He only has factions, so no heroes. And he can't get [Moebius Strike] yet, thats further in factions (though he could pvp, get faction, unlock it, go hunting for a tome, buy the tome with money he probably doesn't have since he's new, and then get the skill).

pm me (ign. the servant of ares) Thanks! I'll give it another shot or two, and if doesn't work out i'll PM you whenever you're online, i added you.
@The Meth
I'll use Jagged Strike because of its cooldown, and it'll also make Sharpen Blades redundant, any idea what might be of use in its place?
@dilan155
Not keen on doing it with humans right now, as i'm still fairly new and prone to mistakes. And come to think of it, the only time i've gotten all the way to Tahmu was careful pulling, although it took too much, and about 4 minutes before reaching him, the previous lesser celestials started respawning on me.
@furanshisuko
Right now i'm in a big financial sinkhole, after spending most of it on the 3 70 pieces of armor, and getting a few skills to test out different builds. And quests are rather scarce, i've actually made two more characters with the purpose of doing the first quests and giving all the gold back to my sin. So it'll take a bit before i can get the rest of the 70 armor, along with a good weapon.
@The Meth #2
I've heard of the MB/DB spamming and heard about how useful it is, i'm sure MB will be the very first thing i'll try and capture as soon as it's available.

I find it easyer going.........Kirin, Turtle, Dragon, Phoenix.
Never had any troubles in NM or HM doing it in that order, masters every time.
One note, when you reach the final boss (my order the mesmer boss Phoenix) dont try and kill his hole party...........just spike the boss and it ends. This might help you out.

I'd say kirin -> turtle -> dragon -> pheonix. The kirins don't heal, and they don't smite well either, so having a lot of those around shouldn't bother you too much. Dragons nuke much harder so you'll want to have those around for as little time as possible, so starting with the kirin would be the best way to do it.
Kerwyn Nasilan
And get your last 2 pieces of max (70) armor.
dilan155
oh ya get the rest of your max armor or you will still be in trouble.
Ur Worst Nitmare
I had trouble beating this mission with my melee character who was a warrior with henches. But when i did this mission on my lvl 15 ranger with henches, i was able to beat it in half an hour by flagging henches and pulling with my bow. Even though you are an assasin, try taking a longbow with you to pull separate monsters at a time, this way you will never pull too many.
BTW my lvl 15 ranger had max armor.

Its pretty easy to do with a MM necro along
If your not bothered about the bonus one thing that can work is to kill everything but the celestials, clearing all or most of their backup troops and leaving them alone.
Then finally kill them moving fast to minimise the smaller celestials that appear.
Like a lot of missions Easy with reasonable human party
Very easy with heroes
Not so easy with Henchmen

wire dawg
one thing u may want to try and was suggested was calling your targets so the henchmen will attack that one and not random ones...and always start killing the rit ones first...and i always start with the monk boss in nm and hm never have a problem getting masters that way and plus i hate dealing with mass degen throu out whole dang mission
Tombguard321
If you are still having issue I normally repeat this mission anyways I can give you a helping hand.
