Something I've been trying out recently that others may find interesting. It probably does more damage than the conventional Wounding Strike builds, but on the downside you don't get the energy return.

[build prof=D/E scythe=11+1+1 wind=10+1 water=10][Wounding Strike][Chilling Victory][Mystic Sweep][Whirling Charge][Attacker's Insight][No Skill][Conjure Frost][Resurrection Signet][/build]

Frost can of course be replaced with lightning/fire depending on the weapon you have or want to use. The empty slot is more or less free for a utility skill - anything you want can go there but I was using [[Guiding Hands] to get the first two skills of the spike through blocking stances or enchantments.

Oh, and I found it often paid to switch to an Enchanting weapon while casting the conjure skill. Lasts a whole 15 seconds longer that way, which can be kind of nice since it's one of the more expensive skills on the bar, and finding the energy to recast it during the battle is not always easy. Partially the lack of mysticism to thank for that. On the upside, though, the spike can cut 2/3 of a target's HP off no problem at all.

sounds like the standard wounding strike....but so much shittier. its always amusing how people go on pvxwiki and manage to butcher the simplest of builds.

Lol that's true of almost ALL dervish builds. That's what dervish's do...buff themselves with enchantments so obviously enchantment removal is going to be an issue.

As for this particular build I've actually tried something very similar. I thought combining IRS and IAS by using whirling charge would be a good idea. Didn't really work out that way tho. Seemed like when I needed one or the other it was on recharge. Still the build was decent enough and it performed well.

Never bothered to check PvXwiki for this one. I haven't been too impressed with the quality of what goes up on there anyway.

At any rate yes enchant removal does gimp its DPS substantially - WS + CV still does damage though - but I think that's an issue for pretty much any conjure WS build. They still seem to be popular enough for some reason.

And ... yeeesss, A/D is more powerful, but it's pretty much always going to out-DPS a primary Dervish. The combination is broken IMHO, even if builds in this strain aren't in general. I have no idea how ArenaNet can fix the problem, though, assuming they even will...
