I really hope they don't allow choose up ats snowball fights as that will just lead to elitism overtaking everything. Should be random 8 just like the random 4 and may the best random teams win. Chooseup has kept the majority of players out of some pvp areas like gvg and ha will be nice to have a random 8 for a change where everyone can play without your build suks or you suk or you're a noob or pugging suks etc. etc. Also, Anet please do not give out the mini polar bear as a prize to anything other than dungeon crawling, at least leave one thing to PVE only play as this is a popular rare item that people will pay big bucks for.

If they allow people to chose teams its going to be the same players who will win everything. Considering some sync groups already can easily get 100+ wins in a row..theres gonna be no contest. I can already guess who the winners are gonna be =(

I think Anet's done an awesome work for this wintersday, they really deserve big kuddos for that. 3 years+ counting and they're still trying to improve a little bit the game. It's nothing (r)evolutionary, but it's nice.

On the snowball ATs, I agree with Red Sonya that it's going to end "badly", but I'm happy for the PvPers that will get it (if they care).

Anyway, this winter, stay away from greed and share the experience. Have a happy wintersday all, including Anet!

hopefully that "special surprise" for doing the EotN quests is something like a miniature Grentch or mini Dwana, so that everybody can come out wid a mini.... not just some dungeonmongers who will spend hours-on-end to get "TEH RAREST EVER POLAR BEAR 100k+321365131365132e+534651231braces"

I really hope that the Dwayna/Grenth balance is properly done this year. Dwayna just IS way better that Grenth atm and in 8 man this will become even worse. Movement control wins games. If nothing is done to this problem, the Grenth team can probably just resign.

Something like: Yellow Snow: You lose 1 condition, you next attack will cause disease and YOU CAN'T SUFFER FROM DISEASE FOR 10 SECONDS. The problem with this skill now is that it will backfire on your team, too.

Avalanche: Target foe is crippled for 10 seconds, If you hit more than 1 foe, this skill takes +10 sec to recharge for each additional foe you hit.

so talked with my source tonight for a bit, aboutwintersday,

ats snowball will happen 3 timesa day, it will not req tokens to play inthem, rewards willbe given to the top 8 out of each tourny, this willbe reward points. tried to see if there willbe everlastings of the grenth or frosty but no word weather it will be or wont be.

she also seems tried she been working hard and has not alot fo timefor play time, either does the team also

already stated you will have to go to your guild hall make your 8 man team click enter ats willnot be random, so better get goodfriends and enter other wise do the reg snowball quest

I plan to do a few services for people this Wintersday (i.e. free runs, blah blah).

But before I can do that, I'd better farm up money so I can buy my ele some Norn armor - make her look like Mrs. Claus

Hmmmm....seems like this year could be better than last year, which was "meh" in my opinion.

Was just reading Regina's talk page, turns out that regular ATS rules apply to the 8v8 snowball....meaning that you have to be in a guild at least 14 days to participate. Which really sucks, because I just made a new guild yesterday especially for the 8v8 snowball Oh well, I understand that there are technical reasons behind it, still pisses me off though. At least there looks to be some new stuff on the pve front, which I appreciate the live teams work on.

LOL! How much of the game is even IN a guild with 8 active people? Maybe 2%.

Makes me wonder what can be available to those of use with perma pre toon?

This should be fun though as I started farming charr carvings weeks ago. WOOT

Yea the fact that the standard ATS rules apply you just eliminated half of the pve of population. Granted you probably also just eliminated the half of population thats bad at snowball arena, its not very fair. People have been wanting non-sync'd/team festival arenas for 3 years now. And instead of offering a team arena, you turned into a pvp tourny. Considering most of your participation come from all the casual players, you just gimped them from participating. You could at least given us some notice so we could get some people together in the same guild to qualify for the ATS.

There's just so much fail in giving us this and not letting everyone participate...As well you made the map 8v8??? I don't even want to talk about how much you made skill an an important factor in a game that already favors one of the sides (cough dwayna cough). The games are either going to be stalemate dragout slugfests or they are going to be over in 2 minutes. Even if i want to play now I have to find 8 people that don't utterly fail at snowball arena? Hell even if gather 4 good eligible people to play, it can be hard to find 4 other people who don't suck.

And don't give me that hardcoded crap. You should be completely able to just put a conditional statement in that waives the 14 days policy if the ATS is snowball arena. It can't be that fing hard. Fix it, test it on your servers, and roll out a new build.

I'm proud you finally put in festival arena that can finally be skilled team based, but I'm pissed at the way you did it. Whatever I guess I'll just rape some scrubs in the random arena version.

so i belive i have found the new hats this year in dat file like every other holiday event i try to make them out an d i have always been right in the past , but i cant make out what they are yet more info to come

as far as i can tell and this time only being about 20% its nutcracker and gingerbread for masks i will have to piece the tex filestogether and try to make a better view of them

Hmm, on the collector bit, if it's the 3 new ones in EotN, then it's pretty disappointing. I mean, come on - D-Cores and *2* Charr Carvings? These already have more value in special armor. They could have been more original, and chosen from the plethora of random low-to-no use trophies in EotN.

Or are there more festival EotN collectors on the way?!...

Charr carvings are better off at the collector. They sell for ~100g each now, and 2 gives you spiked nog worth at least 300g. D-cores sell for about 300, but imo alcohol sells easier than cores.
