I was browsing about on the forums just now and I remembered this thread that Gaile started to get some of our GW related New Years Resolutions for the Arenanet PR team. I went digging around and found it, and even found my old post with my own resolutions.

If you posted in the above thread, I'd be curious to see how your goals stack up to your accomplishments, if you didn't post I'd still be interested to see what you accomplished versus your goals in the past year.

- All five characters R7+ Sunspear & R6+ Lightbringer (4/5; Necromancer not)
- Beat Sorrow's Furnace (on Warrior)
- Beat Urgoz's Warren (on Ranger)
- Beat The Deep (not yet done)
- Get at least one Vanquisher title (Ranger/Cantha)
- Get at least one Guardian title (Warrior/Cantha)
- Get at least one Cartographer title (Necromancer/Elona)
- Reach at least R7 Kurzick Title (succeeded; R7)
- Buy elite armor for every character (5/5)
- Beat Domain of Anguish (still working on Foundry)

As I said, even if you didn't post in Gaile's thread, it would still be interesting to hear if you had any informal goals you set for yourself in the past year and how you did at trying for them.

I raged last year.
So my resolutions weren't GW related ...

So this year, if I am going be wasting wishes, I'll probably wish for world peace first before something GW related.
But I'll probably run out of wishes before I even get to world peace ...

My New Years Resolution was to become an even bigger bastard and learn a new language. I think I can speak Spanish moderately good (better than German, at least) and I am a bastard. Probably I could become a bigger one only by kicking a baby in the head, but that would be crossing the line.

I didn't set any up officially, especially not in this forum since I didn't sign up till jan 08

But goals I've had for over the year:

-Get GWAMM on any one character (at 14 max titles)
-Fill HoM on any one character *later changed to combined HoM due to announcement* (overall: 3/5 full and half with weapons, 4 left for minis - waiting for Lich, Thorn, Nornbear, and Bone Dragon minis)
-Graduate Highschool (yup, was too easy)
-loose weight (sadly, it seems impossible to do, I went on diets, exercised, went anorexic even and didn't loose a pound! Q.Q)
-Not die (hmm, yup I think I did that)

I know the last three are not GW related, but they were goals.

Mine was to get gwamm and a PvP rank.

Stopped gwamm at 26 titles as after the 3 double click mashfest i'd have to spend 400 hours grinding for the 30th..didnt seem worth it, the new title changes make it just as long? Havn't logged in a while.

And for pvp Got Glad 2,R2, and commander 3 which i'm happy enough with for now i guess

my new years resolutions:

---for my ele Mei, to get her 45plat so she can get her elite canthan armor
(she got this and a few others as well)
---for my monk Yuki, to finally find that last few pixels of elona for his cartography title (I dont use textmod), (broke down and got texmod

but he also found those and a few other pixels as well)
---for my paragon and lady monk, to get them thru nightfall
(paragon made it with prot, lady monk did get thru as well)
---for my survivors to get them to level 3 (have 2 left), (oooops, one made it to level 2 700k and got too close to the oaks and pinned down....dead; other is still level 1 and siting in kaineng---however I do have a third now jic)
---for my warrior, to get her r5 in ebon and dwarven so she can get a decent set of armor. (well, she is working on the ebon--occasionally...decided to get elite templar as well--needs one more piece for the set)

---for my account, to get level 1 lucky so I can do better with those dang lockpicks (keeping them that is), (got that, and level 1 'unlicky' as well--almost to level 2 with that one)

---for me, to get on that list of people who gets things from anet (like xmas cards) for 2008. (no idea if I made this list or not----maybe maybe not)

---and finally to get a panda mini pet (yeah thats my 'I will diet' resolution

). (well I am on a diet per my doc, which I do keep mostly, however; the panda is probably more like 'win the lottery' resolution....so uhm....any one just want to GIVE me a panda???????????)

I bought every elite monk armor. I bought the mini grawl for my monk. I still haven't bothered finding an island guardian. I still haven't bothered with kurzick for gwamm. I'll actually start playing more over break, so maybe those last 2 will be next year's resolutions. :\

-Create new character (monk) and get LS on it (succeeded)

-Get prestige armor on it (Got Monk Female Elite Kurzick, succeeded)

-Complete all campaigns (done)

-Get Protector on all continents(done), get guardian on all continents (done) on monk.

-Achieve Legendary guardian on monk (done)

-Get SS/LB maxed (still doing, will complete thisin one week)

-Get Blindfold (done)

-Get 20 dedicated minipets (done)

-Get People Know Me ( see SS/LB, will get this too)

-Get Party Animal/Drunkard/Sweet Tooth ( got Party Animal, thanks to Gaile)

-Enjoy game (sure I did, thanks to numerous amount of friends, guilds and newbies)

-Continue to play Guild Wars. (Well, had 4 moth break, so will probably countitue playing)

My New Year's GW resolution was to play less - which was greatly helped by the fact that there hasn't been any (substantial) new content since GWEN. People can do whatever they like with their free time, but I don't think that GW or any game should monopolise it.

I agree with Zen that it's better to think of ways to improve one's life rather than achieve things in a game. Not to say doing the latter is wrong at all, but it should be part of an overall "life plan".
